Duxbury 4th of July

The Duxbury 4th of July parade and beach party are the most popular annual events in the town of Duxbury! All members of the committee are volunteers.

Duxbury’s Fourth of July parade has been a South Shore tradition since the 1890s, about the time the Powder Point Bridge and Myles Standish Monument were constructed. Many families and friends throughout Plymouth County and beyond participate in the parade. The majority of the funds for holding the parade come from donations by local citizens and contributions from local businesses.

🇺🇸 It's the United States' 250th anniversary, and we’re anchoring it in history!

The Duxbury Celebrates Committee is hard at work planning a special celebration for 2026, themed ⚓ “Anchored in History: Duxbury 1776–2026” — honoring our deep shipbuilding heritage and maritime roots.

We’re looking for creative, enthusiastic volunteers to help bring this milestone parade to life.

We also have a fundraising goal of $50,000 to make this historic celebration unforgettable. Every donation makes an impact.

Beach Operations advises that high tides are expected in at approximately 5pm for the beach party. Due to safety concerns, only one line of vehicles is allowed to form on the crossover beaches. As the high tides come in, vehicles on the beach will move higher to move away from the water. As the tides recedes, those vehicles will then move back in place to a lower portion of the beach. OSV vehicles that are coming to the beach during that time are not allowed to backfill into positions on the beach that do not allow the original vehicles to move back into the lower positions of the beach they held before the high tide. Please be courteous and have proper etiquette for those vehicles that came to the beach earlier in the day, and only had to move due to the high tide. Beach Operations Rangers and Duxbury Police will be on the beach monitoring for this safety concern.
