Shift’s official stance on : “pls come hug me (but also give me b***y pets).” 🐈‍⬛✨

This gorgeous gray and white cutie started out on the streets, but she’s officially traded the rough life for cozy sunbeams and quiet companionship. Shift is a sweet, curious, and slightly shy "personal gargoyle" who loves to perch nearby and supervise your day.

When she's not being a quiet observer, she’s a playful little sprite chasing sunbeams or showing her love by rubbing against your legs. Earning her trust is pure magic, and she’s so ready to blossom in a forever home.

OtterBear and Phoenix both came to IAR needing someone to believe in them.

OtterBear, a former feral tomcat with a rough past, first came into our care after being trapped with a severe head wound. Initially intended to be a short-term foster while he recovered, he slowly revealed himself to be an enormous sweetheart beneath his tough exterior - purring loudly, seeking affection, and learning to trust after years of surviving on his own. Phoenix, on the other hand, entered IAR as a young puppy after being surrendered to a shelter, full of curiosity and sweetness but still learning to feel confident and secure in the world around her.

Somehow, these two rescue animals found their way to the very same family, where they quickly became the best of friends. OtterBear now happily steals Phoenix’s bed (which she graciously allows), Phoenix greets him with a special “hyperwiggle” tail wag, and the two spend their days cuddling, grooming one another, and rarely choosing to spend time apart.

We love all happy endings, but there is something extra special about watching two rescued animals find comfort and friendship in one another. Happiest of tails to OtterBear and Phoenix and the family who opened their hearts to them both 🥹💚

Tiny but mighty

Mini may be the runt of the litter, but she definitely knows how to keep up with the big dogs! With her sweet little face, gentle personality, and just the right amount of sass, she’s impossible not to love. Whether she’s wrestling with her siblings, showing off her spunky side, or curling up for snuggles, Mini brings so much joy everywhere she goes. She fully believes she was meant to be a purse dog

Mini and her siblings were born in IAR’s care after their stray mom was rescued. She is currently receiving her puppy vaccinations, is microchipped, and will be spayed when age-appropriate.

If your weekend plans don’t currently include snuggling at least 14 animals, I have a suggestion...

🐈Cats at Unleashed in Durham from 12–3pm. 🐕Dogs at Der Nachbar from 3–5pm.

So technically you could spend your afternoon getting judged by a tiny cat in a bowtie and then immediately hugged by a dog who thinks you’re the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him.

Honestly a pretty solid Saturday.
