🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

Bryan County is currently under a burn ban due to dry conditions and increased fire risk.

🚫 No outdoor burning is permitted while the burn ban is in effect.

The burn ban will remain in effect until 9:00 AM on August 31, 2026, unless conditions require an extension.

Please help protect our community by avoiding all outdoor burning during this time. Stay safe and stay fire aware! 🧯🔥

Increased wildfire risk continues across Oklahoma due to dry, warm conditions and gusty wind. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for NW Oklahoma, but with the high heat and increasing drought, fires are possible anywhere.

Take care to avoid any activities that may cause a spark! If you see smoke or fire, report it immediately.

The State Emergency Operations Center is Activated due to increased fire activity.

Durant Firefighters continue this week with apparatus pumping operations. Last week they were going over relay pumping from Engine to Engine. This week is a little more special situation/scene scenario which involves supplying water to an aerial apparatus. Our aerial apparatus can be used to rescue people trapped from an elevated area and be beneficial with an elevated water stream. Heights where our hose lines can't reach from the from ground level.

Continued prayers and healing for this little boy. Great work by one of our own that was off-duty and happen to be near.

A bystander performed CPR on the child before he was flown to a Dallas hospital.

Durant Firefighters are training on relay pumping and water operations this week. Senior Apparatus Drivers working/ training with our newer and upcoming Drivers. Giving the newer drivers different obstacles to overcome and correct if something was to go wrong on a scene.
