USW Local 9460 we are a union of healthcare workers in northern MN & WI We are based in Duluth MN, but cover all of northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

You can vote any time between 6:30am and 5pm at the Pine Medical Center's EMS Building in the Admin Conference Room. PINE MEDICAL CENTER: Our union and Essentia Health have reached a tentative agreement for the Pine Medical Center contract. A ratification vote has been scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2026. You can come by to ask questions and to vote any time between 6:30am and 5pm at the PMC EMS Building in the Admin Conference Room.

The union negotiating committee is recommending a yes vote. Among the highlights of the three year agreement are wage increases of 2.5% for year 1, 2.5% for year 2 and 3% for year 3. Other contract improvements include language guaranteeing at least 12 hours off in between shifts, holiday pay for part time workers and all call pay will now be going up to $6.50/hour.

We will be posting the Tentative Agreement in its entirety as soon we get the final edited version from the employer. We want you to be able to read it over before the ratification vote. Physical copies of the TA will also be available at the ratification vote itself.

ESSENTIA HEALTH SANDSTONE: We are trying to get changes in the vacation policy for the CNAs and RNs so that they don’t have to get their own coverage. The team is working to get stronger language that would require the company to notify the union whenever they try to bring on travelers/contingency workers. We’re trying to get higher call pay for Maintenance workers, higher team lead pay and to make shift differentials more fair. And we are still going back and forth on wages. Next meeting is on Tuesday.

We are looking for a Unit Chair at the Chequamegon Clinic. Unit Chairs are like worksite union presidents ~ they represent the Unit on the union's Executive Board, as well as appoint the Unit's contract bargaining committee. Our current Unit Chair had to step away (thank you for your service, Lettie!) so union's Executive Board will be appointing someone at their Oct. 20 meeting to fill that role for the rest of the term (which will be for a year).
