Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration.

Congrats to the teachers at Rock Ridge! It's been a long, hard battle.

Yesterday NEALC stood on the the sidewalk of the Rock Ridge administration building in support of our union teachers that have been without a contract for 407 days! I'm happy to report that after negotiations yesterday they have a Tentative Agreement (TA)!! Solidarity is a lifestyle!

Kudos to USW Local 9460 for a powerful informational picket yesterday in front of Essentia Health in Duluth. The picket was held to draw attention to the Red Book tech workers fight for fair wages, safe staffing levels and an end to frequent mandations. The picket was from 1 to 6pm, and during that time over 250 folks came through. The next Local 9460 action will be to march in the Spirit Valley Day Parade in support of the tech workers at Essentia and Aspirus who are currently both engaged in tough contract negotiations. The parade will be on Thursday, Aug. 6. Gather at 59th Ave. W & Grand Ave in west Duluth at 5:30pm! See you there!

Last night a group of healthcare workers from USW Local 9460 addressed the Duluth City Council about Essentia Health's failure to care for their workers. If you can, stop by and walk the line with them!

Mark your calendars ~ on Thursday, July 30 USW Local 9460 will be holding an informational picket in front of the main entrance of Essentia's hospital in Duluth. We will be picketing from 1 to 6pm in support of workers represented by our Red Book contract. If you are off the clock, or punched out for lunch, please join us! We are demanding fair pay, safe staffing, no mandations and no non-contract workers doing our work!

ICE was in northern Minnesota today, abducting roofing workers in Bemidji again. It's easy to get discouraged seeing fellow workers being taken like this, but we have to keep fighting back! There was a remarkable juxtaposition between the celebration of Minnesota’s labor movement at the national AFL-CIO convention in Minneapolis and another attack from the Trump administration that included the indictments and arrests of several trade unionists from Minnesota.

The national AFL-CIO held its 30th quadrennial constitutional convention in Minneapolis, where less than a week later, several unionists were arrested for their activism on charges of conspiracy.
