Today, we celebrate the retirement of a true legend – Dwight Engen! 🏅

A proud member of LIUNA, Dwight’s commitment to our brotherhood and sisterhood led him to become the Director of Minnesota Laborers - Employers Cooperation & Education Trust for nearly 20 years.

But Dwight is so much more than his professional accomplishments.

No matter how difficult the situation, how tight the timeline, or how much pressure was in the room, Dwight always stayed positive. Not just surface-level positive, but genuinely grounded, steady, and uplifting. That kind of consistency is rare.

Some of our favorite memories of Dwight are his heartfelt monthly reports to the Laborers District Council, specifically his passionate speeches on the progress, growth, and power we have built for LIUNA members over the years. He reminds us that we, the organization and members we represent, are special.

Between the stories many can tell, there’s never a dull moment… He’ll always be ‘D-Wight’, ‘Big D’, and ‘Engenblitzen’ to us.

We wish you all the best as you embark on your next chapter. We’ll miss seeing you in the halls of our buildings, local halls, clinics, and training center, but know that you’ll always be part of our LIUNA family. 🧡
