For 15 years and counting, Loretto at the UN and BVM communities have joined voices at the United Nations, advocating for the rights, dignity, and empowerment of women around the world.

Through their shared commitment to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), they continue to put faith into action—advocating for equality, amplifying women’s voices, and breaking down barriers to education and opportunity.

💙 25 Years of shared mission!

The BVM Community gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversaries of six associates. When they began their journeys in 2001, each expressed a desire to grow in faith, share their gifts, and embrace the BVM core values of freedom, education, charity, and justice. Twenty-five years later, their commitment continues to enrich the BVM Circle of Friends.

“That desire I had as an 18-year-old—to help people—I just wanted to be present,” says Diamond Jubilarian Joanne “Josie” Lucid, BVM celebrating 70 years of a vocation that launched a vital AIDS ministry and Open Arms of Minnesota, a nonprofit that delivers medically-tailored meals to critically and chronically ill individuals. Today, Open Arms delivers more than a million meals a year and just celebrated its 40th anniversary.

BVM Sisters joined more than 300 participants for the second annual Women & Water Indigenous International Clean Water Summit in Lac Courte Oreilles, Wis., standing alongside those who remind us that “Nibi” (water) is life. 💧

Kate Hendel, BVM reflects on the week of prayer, ceremony, and shared teachings that deepened relationships with Indigenous communities and renewed a commitment to caring for our common home.

Putting faith into action can take many forms—including the simple act of writing a letter. 🖃

Through postcard and letter-writing campaigns with Network Lobby's See. Love. Vote. campaign and Vote Forward, BVMs encouraged civic engagement and participation in the election process. These hands-on efforts reflect their commitment to justice, the common good, and the belief that every voice matters.

One letter, one act of love, one vote at a time.
