As we prepare for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the BVM Community has signed the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) Declaration of Commitment that will be delivered to Congress today at 12 p.m. ET (11 a.m. CST).

As bearers of hope, we pledge to live with compassion, courage, and love, remaining steadfast in our commitment to justice, human dignity, and the common good while responding faithfully to the challenges of today's world.

Let us unite in prayer for our nation and our future.

We are proud to highlight presentations by BVMs at Dubuque Rendezvous, a free community festival exploring climate sustainability, culture, and collective action:

✨BVM Pat Bombard and Mary Jo McDermott, both members of the Dubuque Interfaith Green Coalition, will explore the Earth’s birth story on Thursday, June 25, and Pat will present the science and policy of climate change on Friday, June 26.

✨BVM Ann DeNicolo (along with Land Justice Futures collaborators) will present a powerful reflection on the Doctrine of Discovery, its lasting impact, and how healing and learning is leading toward justice for Indigenous and Black communities on Friday, June 26.

Join BVM Sisters this morning, Wednesday, June 24th at 10:45 a.m. CST via livestream from the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel for a community prayer: "Walking with the Immigrants."

In a prayerful context, Sister Paula Schwendinger, PBVM, will share recent experiences of Hispanic immigrants she serves.

We were honored to welcome Kenya’s Nazareth Sisters of the Annunciation to Mount Carmel Bluffs.

The Sisters shared gratitude for the support they received from the BVMs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which provided critical relief to African communities. In the United States, they serve with compassion, offering hospice care in Des Moines and ministering in healthcare and social work in Pennsylvania.

Freely, faithfully, we take action.

On this final day, we give thanks for the grace-filled days of the 2026 BVM Congregational Assembly. Rooted in prayer, conversation, and a deep listening to the Spirit, we were reminded that “community happens wherever one of us genuinely encounters another.”

We also paused in recognition of to honor the meaning of freedom and recommit ourselves to living it more fully.
