Another magical moment granted!

Meet Bennett!

When Bennett was still in the womb, doctors told his parents he had a heart defect and would likely not survive long after birth. However, after numerous tests and ultrasounds, it was discovered that his heart was healthy. Instead, he was likely to have Apert syndrome. After weeks in the NICU, they brought their incredible bundle of joy home.

Children with Apert syndrome face various challenges, and Bennett initially struggled to talk and walk. Yet, he found unique ways to communicate and move. At around 3 and 4 months old, Bennett underwent surgeries to repair craniosynostosis and several hand surgeries to separate his fingers. Throughout these hospital stays and therapy sessions, Bennett's determination shone through. He learned to walk, talk, use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, and play the piano. His true passion, however, was soccer. Despite his physical challenges, he joined a local competitive youth team, impressing doctors with his resilience, intelligence, and maturity.
His spirit is unbreakable.

Bennett has always dreamt of a magical encounter with Liverpool FC, his beloved team. As a devoted fan and soccer enthusiast, he knows every World Cup final by heart and adores the English Premier League. For 12 years, he’s watched Liverpool on TV, dreaming of seeing them live!

Bennett's love for soccer has given him confidence and belonging. It’s opened doors to friendships and helped him connect in social situations, despite others sometimes making assumptions about his abilities. Facing a major reconstructive surgery, Bennett feared his soccer-playing days might end. Yet, his wish was granted. Bennett not only got to see Liverpool FC live but also met former players and attended a preseason game. This experience became a beacon of hope and inspiration- a memory that will last, no matter what the future holds for his place on the team.

A VERY special thank you to Liverpool FC for granting this incredible wish and to his family for being the most loving, supportive, and kind people! And a thank you to our own Cameron Kim for spending the incredible day with Bennett and his family!

More importantly, Magical Mondays provide a safe, welcoming space where children with facial differences and their families can connect with others from across the United States, share their stories, build lasting friendships, and realize they are never alone on their journey.

National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness and Prevention Month - Because Every Child Deserves to Feel Seen!

A cleft or craniofacial difference is something a child may be born with (or acquired) but it should never be something that defines who they become.

Behind every scar is a story.
Behind every surgery is a brave child.
Behind every family is a journey filled with uncertainty, strength, tears, hope, and an incredible amount of love.

And sometimes, the hardest part isn't the surgery.

It’s the staring.
The questions.
The whispers.
The bullying.
The moment a child looks in the mirror and wonders if they are different in a way that makes them less.

That is where Magical Moments Foundation wants to make a difference. ✨

We believe children with cleft and craniofacial differences deserve to experience childhood without feeling defined by their appearance. They deserve opportunities to build confidence, create joyful memories, discover their strengths, pursue their dreams, and most importantly, feel like they belong.

Our mission is about more than creating magical moments.

It’s about creating hope.
It’s about building confidence.
It’s about creating a sense of belonging.
It’s about reminding a child that their face is only one small part of the incredible person they are becoming.

Let's talk about stigma!

Every child deserves to be seen for who they are—not judged by how they look.

For children with facial differences, the hardest part is often not the medical appointments or surgeries. It's the stares. The whispers. The questions. The moments they're left out because someone sees their difference before they see *them*.

Stigma can leave lasting emotional scars. It can affect a child's confidence, friendships, mental health, and sense of belonging. No child should have to wonder if they are "less than" because of something they never chose.

But we all have the power to change that.

Teach children that differences are a normal part of being human. Choose curiosity over assumptions, kindness over judgment, and inclusion over exclusion. A smile, an invitation to play, or simply treating a child like any other child can make an enormous difference.

When we replace stigma with understanding, we help children with facial differences grow up knowing they are valued, accepted, and worthy—exactly as they are.

Let's create a world where every face is welcomed, every child belongs, and kindness is the first thing we notice. ❤️

📊 Many children receive care from a multidisciplinary team that may include surgeons, orthodontists, dentists, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, psychologists, and other specialists.
📊 Depending on their individual needs, some children may undergo multiple surgeries and years of specialized care from infancy through young adulthood.
📊Every appointment, milestone, and smile represents incredible strength and determination.

✨ About **1 in every 700 babies** is born with a cleft lip and/or cleft palate, making it one of the most common birth differences worldwide.

🩺 A cleft occurs very early in pregnancy when parts of the lip or roof of the mouth don't completely join together. Most cases are not caused by anything a parent did or didn't do.

👩‍⚕️ Treatment is a journey, not a single surgery. Many individuals receive care from a team of specialists—including surgeons, speech therapists, orthodontists, audiologists, and dentists—to help them thrive.
