Delaware Public Media highlighted Delaware’s #2 in Hospital Quality national ranking by U.S. News & World Report in a recent piece. DHA President & CEO Brian Frazee shared insights on the healthcare landscape including hospital quality commitment, recent policy changes, and emerging headwinds, like Medicaid changes coming in 2027. DHA and our members will continue to be collaborative leaders on healthcare quality, access, and affordability.

"And there's more work to do, especially in the insurance and pharmaceutical space," Frazee said. "Because we believe that it takes all sectors in the healthcare space, to truly address affordability."

The Delaware Healthcare Association joined leading health advocates on the First State Health Leaders Alliance to encourage measles vaccination awareness and action. As Delaware remains on high alert to track measles cases, please know that you can take the steps to protect yourself and your loved ones.

We urge Delawareans to contact your provider with questions, check your vaccination status and learn where you can get vaccinated if you or a loved one are not up to date on your vaccinations.

DHA recently had the opportunity to tour Delaware Hospice in Milford and learn about their mission and day-to-day operations. The patient and family are at the center of care. The work is emotional, healing, and compassionate. We appreciate the opportunity to learn about the nurses, services, and resources for patients and families!

Congratulations to the 2026 TidalHealth Nanticoke scholarship recipients! TidalHealth awards the Healthcare Education Scholarship, Jill Hickman Nursing Scholarship, and TidalHealth Diversity Scholarship to local students pursuing careers in the health sciences. Students will go on to nursing, exercise science, surgery studies and more. This is an amazing way to help the next generation nurture a love for medicine!

The Delaware Division of Public Health - DPH has declared a measles outbreak this week following positive tests in the state. Extensive contact tracing is ongoing to identify anyone exposed to the individuals who tested positive.

You can take the steps to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Even as the healthcare sector faces major headwinds, Delaware hospitals continue to step up to be part of the solution to healthcare access and affordability.

We thank Governor Matt Meyer and his Administration, Senate Majority Leader Bryan Townsend, Sen. Marie Pinkney, Sen. Spiros Mantzavinos, Speaker of the House Rep. Melissa Minor-Brown, Rep. Nnamdi Chukwuocha, and Rep. Kendra Johnson for their collaborative work with DHA on the bills signed into law today - SS 2 for SB 1, SS 1 for SB 13 and SB 313.

The work will continue. These new laws will require intentional implementation as hospitals brace for the negative impacts to operations, workforce, and health outcomes as a result of upcoming federal policy challenges, including significant changes to Medicaid coming in 2027. We cannot lose sight of these dynamics along with the fact that we have a uniquely aging and growing population. DHA looks forward to continued collaborative efforts with policymakers and the First State Health Leaders Alliance.

It’s going to take all of us working together to make the First State First in Health.

✅️ SS 2 for Senate Bill 1: Supports primary care while taking another meaningful step toward addressing healthcare affordability
✅️ SS 1 for Senate Bill 13: Enhances access to hospital financial assistance programs
✅️ Senate Bill 313: Aims to prevent private equity from acquiring Delaware’s nonprofit acute care hospitals
