Thanks to Strider Bikes for their generous donation of 80 new Strider Balance Bikes to Free Bikes 4 Kidz Delaware.... and to Bayhealth Material management for delivering the bikes to our workspace!!

Strider has been a strong supporter of Free Bikes 4 Kidz Delaware since inception!!

Strider was born in 2007 from a father’s desire to share his love of all things on two wheels with his son. From it’s start in a garage in Rapid City, South Dakota to becoming a global movement, Strider is transforming how kids learn to ride in a simple way: balance first.

Strider believes in the power of collaboration to spread the joy of riding. Strider actively partner with creators, organizations, and individuals who share our passion for empowering children and communities worldwide.

29 bikes were given to kids and teens last week in collaboration with our long time partner organization Caribbean Culture Awareness Inc.

Caribbean Culture Awareness Inc is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization that's all about spreading the love for Caribbean culture. We believe in promoting diversity, community, and education while having fun along the way.

Our mission is simple: we aim to raise awareness and appreciation for Caribbean culture through community events and educational initiatives. Our events range from food festivals to dance workshops, and we make sure to include something for everyone. You don't have to be from the Caribbean to enjoy our events - all are welcome!

Free Bikes 4 Kidz Delaware is most thankful to the Carl M. Freeman Foundation for their generous grant to FB4K DE to provide bikes for kids and teens in Sussex County!

Creating places that enrich lives are the words the Carl M. Freeman Companies live by. Of equal note was our founder’s belief that to whom much is given, much is expected. Thus, in 1960, he established the Carl M. Freeman Foundation, which, via grants and guidance, assists nonprofit organizations throughout the Maryland and Delaware area.

The Carl M. Freeman Foundation, a private family foundation established in 1960, has a long history of supporting nonprofit organizations - both large and small. The Foundation commits its time, talent and treasure to facilitate, support and promote innovative community-based leadership and giving. We seek to honor our founders’ legacies and passions by endorsing excellence and leveraging resources. Generally, we limit donations to communities where the customers, employees, and vendors of Carl M. Freeman Companies work, live, and play.

FB4K DE has tremendous gratitude for Charles Jackson who collected and donated 87 bikes this past weekend....the single biggest donation of used bikes FB4K DE has ever received!!! ....and thanks to 3 of our most dedicated volunteers (Greg Jordan, Lavey LeGrand and James Hardison - friends since grade school in the Bronx!) who spent their weekend transporting the bikes.

Thanks to all who donated their bike on Collection Day!!

Free Bikes 4 Kidz Delaware Collection Day sponsored by Bayhealth was a great success with 80 bikes donated at the events. These bikes will be refurbished and given away to under-resourced kids and teens by the summer.

You can still donate your bike or bikes to FB4K DE by messaging us or emailing [email protected]. FB4K DE volunteers will be able to arrange drop off or pick up.

FB4K DE is most grateful for all of the volunteers who helped make yesterday's bike collection a success! We collected 80 bikes and some generous cash donations at the 5 Bayhealth sites ... and had another 20 bikes donated by those who couldn't make it. Many thanks to those who covered the collection tables at the 5 sites, those that drove their trucks to transport the bikes and those that helped unload the bikes at our workspace.

Kudos to the Honor Society students from Caesar Rodney High School, Polytech High School and Salesianum School who joined in where needed with energy and enthusiasm!

....and Thanks to all the people who donated the bikes. Almost every bike comes with a memory of rides past. We promise to refurbish them and get them to kids / teens in need for their "2nd life".

FB4K DE IS ALMOST OUT OF BIKES!! .... and has a long list of requests for bikes to give kids and teens for the summer.

We'll be having our 1st large bike collection event at 5 Bayhealth sites listed below on Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 - 12:00.

Please tell your friends / families / community associations and share on your social media.

Free Bikes for Kids Delaware (FB4K DE) is an all volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to providing new and refurbished bicycles to under-resourced Delaware kids and teens. Since inception in 2023, FB4K DE have given over 1300 bikes to kids and teens identified by our 30+ Delaware partner organizations - schools, churches, government agencies and fellow non-profits such as Boys Club Girls Club and YMCA. Each bike comes with a new, certified helmet.

Due to:

- our dedicated all volunteer team
- new and used bike donations from the community and national bike retailers
- generosity of local sponsors who provide insurance and accounting services
- deep discounts from premier national bike part and tool companies

our cost to give away a bike and helmet valued at ~$200 is only ~$25.
