Energize Delaware Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility (DESEU) DBA Energize Delaware — a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization created by the State of Delaware. EnergizeDelaware.org

We offer energy-efficiency and renewable energy programs that help Delawareans reduce their carbon footprint by promoting sustainable energy solutions for a thriving environment and economy. We help residents, businesses, farmers, schools, religious organizations, nonprofits, hospitals and local governments save money. We do it by providing access to renewable energy, high-efficiency heating, cooling, ventilation and insulation technologies at little or no cost.

Over the weekend, Energize Delaware was a proud sponsor of Baila Con Dover Latin Festival. Hopefully you were able to stop by the festival and chat with our team about how you can make your home more energy efficient and save $$ on your utility bills.

Together, we created unity through celebration.

A brighter future is taking shape at Selbyville Public Library! ☀️📚

With support from a $423,000 Energize Delaware's Solar for Nonprofits, the library now benefits from a 171 kW solar array. The system helps reduce energy costs, expand access to clean energy, and strengthen sustainability in the Sussex County community.

We’re proud to support projects like this that turn renewable energy investments into lasting benefits for Delaware communities.

Thanks to our Affordable Multifamily Housing program, Energy Rater, Jear Mutunda recently completed blower door testing at Mispillion Station II in Milford, DE.

Jear has been working with project partners and contractors to provide training and education on air sealing, insulation, and ventilation in order to keep future residents comfortable while ensuring that the homes can withstand climate impacts and continue to perform reliably over time.

Thanks to New Ecology, Inc. for the photos!

When my colleagues and I heard about Delawareans getting hit with unusually high energy bills in the winter of 2025, we knew we needed to act fast to help the families who could least afford those spikes.

We passed House Bill 50, which created the Delaware Energy Fund to bring direct and immediate relief to low- and moderate-income households, while also encouraging energy efficiency to help families lower their bills for the long term.

I'm proud to share that the program is working. To date, it's helped more than 10,000 Delawareans and saved residents $10 million in energy costs.

We held the ribbon cutting for the Food Bank of Delaware yesterday morning and it made the front page of the State News this morning! Thank you Brian Trompeter. In our remarks, we talked about this project only being available because of Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative funds, which allowed us to create the Solar for Non-Profits program. Additionally, the $2 million battery storage project in Milford allows this project to move forward and addresses the issue of solar saturation within the City of Milford. Finally, these two projects show our continued commitment to the City of Milford by supporting more than $8 million in projects through our programs over the last few years.

As the Food Bank noted, this project will offset roughly 63 percent of their energy usage, save $2 million over the lifetime of the solar array, and allow them to package 6 million more meals for Delawareans in need.

The impact of this program, partnering with community-based non-profits, is what continues to build upon last year’s success of 26 applications totaling more than $6.8 million.
