📢 Independent restaurants, food entrepreneurs, and local suppliers depend on fair competition to keep food costs manageable.

🏢 Sysco, the nation’s largest foodservice distributor, is seeking to acquire Restaurant Depot, one of the few alternative wholesale purchasing options available to independent food businesses. Many restaurant owners rely on competition between these two companies to secure better pricing and maintain already razor-thin margins.

⚠️ If this acquisition moves forward, independent restaurants could face higher costs, fewer purchasing options, and reduced leverage in the marketplace. The effects would extend beyond restaurants, impacting local farms, regional producers, food entrepreneurs, and the communities they serve.

🤝 is leading a national campaign urging the Federal Trade Commission to block this merger and protect competition for independent restaurants and food businesses across the country.

🌱 At Commonwealth Kitchen, we’re proud to support this effort because a thriving food ecosystem depends on competition, choice, and opportunity for small businesses.

🥖 Sharing some from Anchor & Rye and their journey!

💬 “Being part of CommonWealth Kitchen has helped me gain confidence as I take the next steps with Anchor & Rye. Through the mentorship, the Ready to Launch program, and the opportunity to pitch my business and win, I’ve been able to think more clearly about my goals and what growth could look like. It has also been really meaningful to connect with other food entrepreneurs and business owners who understand what it takes to build something from the ground up.”

🥗 This past Thursday, the Commonwealth Kitchen team attended the Healthy Kids Summit, where school nutrition leaders, advocates, and food entrepreneurs came together to discuss creating healthier, more exciting meals for students.
✨ We were thrilled to see Commonwealth Kitchen’s Field Fritter featured on Northampton Public Schools’ winning Terrific Tray Award tray! We also loved hearing Mystelle share how the district’s award program is helping celebrate nutritious, student-approved school meals and bring more excitement to healthy eating in schools.
👏 It’s inspiring to see innovative, locally made foods finding their place in school cafeterias and helping make healthy eating more accessible and enjoyable for kids. Thank you to everyone who made the summit such a meaningful event!
