Squirrels Gone Wild Rescue & Rehab Our mission is to rehabilitate, and release orphaned or injured wildlife native to Illinois. We are a small rehabilitation center located in Northern Illinois.

We are a licensed 501c3 wildlife rescue serving Ogle, Lee, Whiteside, DeKalb, and Winnebago counties. Our main focus is rehabbing and releasing crazy, sweet, smart squirrels. We are a non-profit organization that depends solely on public donations.

Happy Labor Day! Get out and enjoy the end of summer with a BBQ with your friends. Our little rescue squirrels broke out the grill today to celebrate as well. Beautiful weather today and lots of squirrels out looking for treats. Luckily I had a walnut for this little bigger. I rather him chew on the hard shell and grind down his teeth versus our wood deck.

Guess who also opened thier eyes this week? Bandit did! It's always an exciting day when a little squirrel opens its eyes and can see the big beautiful world for the first time. He is now in stage 2 cages with his new friends. Keep following us to see him grow.

Sorry for the delay in posting our welcome to Rascal from Byron. This little guy fell from his nest while his finder was outside. The little guy tried his hardest to climb back up but could only make it up a few feet. He kept trying, and the next day he fell again. No mom to come get him, so he was brought to us here at Squirrels Gone Wild Rescue & Rehab will he has new friends to grow up with. Keep following us to see his journey back to nature.

We had another busy Friday night with a few squirrel intakes. Little Timber Lake came to us from a foster mom in Rockford where he was in excellent care. He was originally from Gilberts where he was originally rescued. Sometimes it takes an army to save a baby squirrel. This little guy had a crazy few days but is now settled in here at Squirrels Gone Wild Rescue & Rehab where he is with some new friends. Follow us for Timber Lakes progress.

How's Mac doing? He is the little squirrel that came to us a few days ago with fly strike. We'll it has been a very rough few days but he is getting better. No more fly strike or fleas, he is hydrated, and is eating slowly. He is also moving around much more now. So thank you everyone for you positive vibes and kind words.

Good morning from Squirrels Gone Wild Rescue & Rehab . Our morning routine is quite busy getting everyone fed, all cages and incubator are cleaned, and food is prepped for the day. Its a full service stay here. But don't you think it worth it?
