Teddy had a scheduled vet visit today to try to get some pain management for his arthritis.

Teddy is approximately 13 years old and has severe arthritis we've been managing for a couple of years now, but we needed to try something new as his condition worsened.

Unfortunately we learned that one of Teddy's knees is essentially fuzed due to his arthritis, and his parasite count was very high. He recieved a dewormer ar the clinic amd we will be giving the rest of our flock a dosage at home.

He also received a new type of pain management which we will be giving him as an injection every week for the next month as well as oral pain medication that he has been on before.

We're so so grateful to have access to compassion vet care, but the vet bills always add up quickly and usually unexpectedly so we're asking for our communities help again to cover Teddys vet bill β™₯️🐏

Teddy still has so much life in him and the vet agreed he's in good shape considering his condition and age! Lets keep him as comfortable as possible!

Okay, temporary solution is in place! this water is not going to go away any time soon and the bugs are already ramping up.

Okay, it's official, I'm stressed.
If you have a skidsteer and can donate dirt or ag lime to get these stalls above flooding level please reach out!!!

It's so easy to overlook these moments when the stress of more storms tonight are flooding my brain and nervous system.
But this.... rescued pigs just completely unbothered and actually excited for a new branch in their pasture? This is what it's all about. They're safe, unconditionally loved, and able to live their lives as they should.
Moments like this happen all the time at the sanctuary, but I hardly stop to enjoy them because of the thousand other things that need my attention. Today I'm so grateful the damage was minimal and these babes always show me that everything is going to be fine β™₯️

On a more positive note! Thank you to Beth who came out with an abundance of fruit, veggies, and so many watermelons!!! All the kids had such a good time munching, and Dottie actually took a break from the watermelons to take advantage of belly rubs from Beth!
This is such an amazing donation that has already come in handy to keep everyone hydrated and also distracted from the storms. I'll be handing out more snacks tomorrow too β™₯️

EVERYONE IS OKAY

but wow that was absolutely terrifying. I ran out to the barn to close up the doors when it started raining and then everything happened at once. A huge tree fell on the fence between the pig pastures, thankfully everyone was inside and the fence wasn't damaged as far as I could tell. Then I couldn't tell if it was hail or branches banging down on the roof of the barn! I know we’re getting more storms but I hope that was the worst of it.

I didn't get any pictures or videos today because it was just too hot for the extra effort, but please enjoy Pumba munching on his favorite branch a couple of days ago when it was cooler 🌳

A special thanks to Mandy who came out today to help with a very important and time sensitive project, which we will share more about later this week! πŸ‘€ we are soooo excited to share this will you!

When gutters can't wait any longer 🌧🌧🌧
The pig stall was flooding again because unfortunately they just really like rooting in spots right under the eve of the barn. No matter how many times I filled it in and flattened it, they just love that spot....and that's also where all the water is falling right into. These gutters will help significantly

More fans ordered, wallows filled, troughs and wallows filled twice, piggies hosed down, sheepies given cool cabbage, chickens had cool snacks.... today was hot in Northern IL, but mid next week will be awful and I'm stressed to be honest.
Caring for rescued babes is emotionally and physically the most demanding thing we've ever done in our lives. Our heart lives outside of our chest 24/7, but especially during these brutal days. Send all the love to the heartbeats at Freedom Run, and all sanctuaries, this upcoming week. β˜€οΈ
