How did we start the Trek bike giveaway?

Before the first bike was ever handed out, there were a lot of conversations. A lot of no’s. People weren’t willing to take the chance. They all said it would never happen.

What changed everything were the people who believed in it first.

Mike and Connie Armstrong said yes before there was proof, before there was a crowd, and before anyone knew what this could become.

Because of their yes, 300 kids have received new Trek bikes through the Kind Hearts Project.

That yes mattered more than they probably ever realized, and our community is better because of it.

We’ll never forget the people who believed first. 🚲🖤

Thank you to The Dickinson Press for the back to back articles! The first was about us and the bike giveaway, the one below is the event itself. Kelly was a pleasure to work with, her dedication and compassion is obvious. She also stated many times about her love for our community! We are already preparing for Kind Hearts Day this fall!

A quick clarification from us.

The Kind Hearts Project events are intended to be completely free so families can come enjoy the day without added stress or cost.

We recently learned that some people were charged for ice cream during the event. That was not our intention, and we sincerely apologize for the confusion.

If you paid for ice cream and still have your receipt, please email it to [email protected] within 30 days, and I will personally reimburse you for that charge.

We appreciate the support, understanding, and kindness this community continues to show us.

This picture say everything.

This was Legacy Square filled with families, kids, volunteers, bikes, helmets, noise, excitement, and our community.

100 kids went home with a brand-new Trek bike and helmet.

That only happened because businesses in this community said yes when we asked for help. It happened because people donated, volunteered, built bikes, handed out tickets, answered questions, served food, gave up their Saturday, and stayed until Legacy Square was empty and clean.

There were so many moments today where we just had to stop and take it in.

Kids realizing they won a bike.
Parents smiling.
Families staying for hours.
Volunteers doing whatever needed to be done without being asked.

It was a lot of work to get here, but seeing this many people come together for kids made every bit of it worth it.

We intentionally make sure our events are 100% free so that everyone can show up and just enjoy the day.

Our 3rd annual Trek Bike giveaway was our best yet. We are thankful for everyone that came together to make it possible.
