Help is available. ❤️

Some losses don’t come with a funeral, but they can still break your heart.

You can grieve the parent who is still alive but unable to love you the way you needed. The friendship that ended without a real goodbye. Your health before pain, illness or exhaustion changed everyday life. The home you had to leave. The relationship you tried so hard to save.

You can grieve the childhood you should have had. The future you could picture so clearly. Years lost to survival. The version of yourself you miss.

People may say, “At least no one died,” without realising that something deeply important has still gone. And when others don’t recognise the loss, it can feel even lonelier.

If you’re carrying a sadness you can’t quite explain, it may be grief. You don’t need permission to mourn what changed, what never came, or what you had to let go of.

Simple joys and scares as we near Halloween 👻

At the Southwest North Dakota Alano Club, we recognize that domestic violence and substance use disorder can sometimes intersect in complicated and painful ways. People affected by addiction may also be experiencing trauma, unsafe relationships, family instability, or the lasting effects of abuse.

Substance use does not cause or excuse domestic violence, and no one deserves to be abused. But recovery often means addressing more than substance use alone—it can also mean finding safety, support, connection, and hope.

This month, we stand with survivors of domestic violence and with individuals and families working toward recovery.

If you are struggling, please know that support is available. You do not have to face it alone. 💜
