Today!!

We're back for our fresh, dynamic lunch-time conversation series: "He Said, She Said," featuring Omari Barksdale, Dr. Larmender A. Davis, Kalimah Johnson, and Dr. Spencer A. Murray.

Out series theme: WHO TOLD US THAT?
Unpacking the Rules Black Men and Women Inherited

From “a real man should…” to “a good woman would…” we've inherited a whole lot of rules about what Black men and women are supposed to be, do, and expect from one another. But who made those rules, and do they still serve us?

Join SASHA Center’s He Said. She Said. for a four-week conversation as Black men and women unpack the messages we've inherited about masculinity, womanhood, relationships, roles, strength, vulnerability, and partnership.

We’re keeping what strengthens us, challenging what limits us, and maybe throwing a few old rules away.

Because sometimes you just have to ask: Who told us that?
Join us every Tuesday, for 4 weeks, in April, starting April 7 from 12 - 1 pm, and bring your lunch while we engage in thought-provoking conversations.

You can catch us live on Zoom or Facebook! If you're joining via Zoom, be sure to register by 10 AM on the day of each session: https://bit.ly/MEN_HSSS_2006

Don’t miss out. Let’s talk!

HELLO MONDAY 🧡
Good morning, Sis.
Here's something I want you to remember as you step into this new week...
You don't have to respond to everything that demands your attention.
Not every text requires an immediate reply.
Not every misunderstanding needs a lengthy explanation.
Not every opinion about your life deserves a seat at your table.
And not every invitation to an argument requires your participation.

So this week, before you respond, ask yourself:
"Does this require my attention, or is it simply requesting my energy?"
You are allowed to take your time.
You are allowed to choose your words.
And when it's safe to do so, you're allowed to choose not to respond at all.
May this week bring you fewer unnecessary explanations, more intentional conversations, and the freedom to let some things pass you by.
Because, Sis, peace doesn't always need an announcement. Sometimes it just needs your permission.
Take what you need into the week. Leave the rest here.
Love,
SASHA Center

It is Feel Good, Heal Good Friday at SASHA Center.
When conversations about sexual violence become louder, it's important to remember that survivors deserve more than awareness. We deserve opportunities to experience peace, connection, comfort, and joy.

At SASHA Center, we believe healing is not defined only by the difficult moments we work through. It can also be found in the moments that remind us we are still worthy of experiencing goodness.

A genuine laugh. A peaceful morning. Time with someone who makes you feel safe. A moment of rest without explanation. The freedom to choose what feels right for you.

And sometimes, feeling good means giving yourself permission to do absolutely nothing.

There is no single way to heal, no required timeline, and no expectation that every day must feel like progress.

You can honor what you've experienced while still making room for what feels good.

This Feel Good, Heal Good Friday, we invite you to consider:

What is one small thing that brings you peace, comfort, or joy—and how can you make a little more room for it?

You deserve moments that belong entirely to you.

With care,
SASHA Center
