Miracles to Inspire Change and Healing After Experiencing Loss (MICHAEL) is non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides grief counseling, education, support groups, mentoring, recreational activities, and financial assistance to children who have lost a parent due to violence. Seeking to EMPOWER them as well as enrich their childhood experience through hope. Our organization helps to connect children with their peers who have shared a similar loss, learn new coping skills, build resilience, and help them to understand they are not alone throughout their healing journey.

📢 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Grief deserves a place to speak.

On August 30th, National Grief Awareness Day, we invited people to step up to our Wind Phone. A phone with no other line, except the one between us and the people we carry in our hearts.

What happened next was deeply human.

People spoke to loved ones they miss. They said the things left unsaid. They laughed, cried, remembered, and simply sat with the weight of love and loss.

To everyone who trusted us enough to share their vulnerability, thank you. Thank you for your honesty, your transparency, your courage, and for reminding us that grief doesn’t always need to be fixed. Sometimes, it just needs to be witnessed.

🖤 If you’re grieving, you are not alone. And you don’t have to hide the ways you continue to love someone who is no longer here.

This is your reminder to make space for grief….. yours and someone else’s.

During The National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims advocates and community members commemorate murder victims and surviving family members. The day also honors the work of organizations that provide services, including support, advocacy, and counseling for families, individuals and communities coping with homicide-related deaths.
