GIVE HER HER FLOWERS

Too often, women give so much of themselves, their time, their strength, their wisdom, their compassion, and their leadership, without receiving the recognition they deserve.

Today, the UAW Women’s Department, under the leadership of Secretary-Treasurer Margaret Mock, encourages us to change that.

Give her her flowers while she can see their beauty.
Celebrate her while she can hear the applause.
Honor her while she can feel the love.
Thank her while she can receive your gratitude.

Give flowers to the woman who opened the door.
Give flowers to the sister who held the door open for others.
Give flowers to the mentor who shared her wisdom.
Give flowers to the activist who refused to be silent.
Give flowers to the union sister who continues to organize, mobilize, uplift, and fight for working people.

Remember, another woman’s flowers do not take away from your own garden.
When we celebrate one another, encourage one another, and lift one another higher, WE ALL RISE.

So today, tell a woman:

“I see you. I appreciate you and honor you, and these flowers are for YOU.”

Secretary-Treasurer Margaret Mock and the UAW Women’s Department salute the incredible women whose courage, sacrifice, leadership, and sisterhood continue to strengthen our union and our communities.

October is a month of AWARENESS, COURAGE, STRENGTH, and SOLIDARITY.

As we recognize Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the UAW Women’s Department, under the direction of UAW Secretary-Treasurer Margaret Mock, stands in solidarity with every survivor, every fighter, every family, and every life forever changed by domestic violence or breast cancer.

To survivors of domestic violence: We see you. We hear you. We believe you. We stand with you.

To those fighting breast cancer, those who have survived, and those whose memories we carry with us: We honor your courage, your strength, and your journey.

This October, let the purple and pink ribbons remind us of something powerful:

Two Ribbons. Two Battles. ONE sisterhood. We Remember. We Honor. We Fight. WE STAND TOGETHER!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we call on our UAW family to come together in the spirit of solidarity, sisterhood, brotherhood, and siblinghood as we participate in the 2026 Detroit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk!

JOIN US AS WE WALK FOR A CURE!

Breast cancer has touched the lives of far too many of our families, friends, coworkers, and communities. On this special day, we will walk to celebrate our survivors, honor those we have lost, uplift those currently fighting, and remind every person facing this disease that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I encourage our UAW members, retirees, families, and friends to put on your PINK, lace up your walking shoes, and join us as we turn our solidarity into action! Every step represents HOPE. Every voice raises AWARENESS. Every person who joins us makes a DIFFERENCE!

Let's paint Detroit PINK and show the world the POWER of the UAW family!

We regret to inform you that the wellness retreat has been postponed.

While we are disappointed that we will not be gathering at this time, we remain committed to creating opportunities that support the health, wellness, empowerment, and strength of our membership.

On the bright side, we are already looking forward to Spring 2027 and the opportunity to come together again in solidarity, sisterhood, and unity.
