GAA is proud to honor our nursing members this Nurses Week 2022 -- May 6-12. GAA Nurses provide care to some of our most vulnerable populations at the Wayne County Jail, Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center, and the Wayne County Public Health Department. Nurses have endured unprecedented pressure and stress during the pandemic working with a lack of resources, and an ongoing staffing crisis. Yet the professionalism and quality care provided to the citizens of Wayne County is truly remarkable. We appreciate all you do.

Solidarity is the chord of communication, engagement, and fidelity banding together. It is instrumental in establishing the boundaries for our work environment and the standard within ourselves professionally. The commitment and shared vision of the membership creates a powerful force. Solidarity made the advances of the labor movement possible because there is strength in numbers. Over time, its strength has been tested and proven resilient. The union has protected rights, defended positions, and created opportunities on behalf of its members. It is only through solidarity that we can pool resources and amplify our collective voice throughout the County.

Solidarity indicates individuals in support of the same purpose in order to achieve goals that will be beneficial for all. Compassion and integrity are vital components to succeed in solidarity because there is awareness of the saying "one for all and all for one" implying that no one should be left behind in the process.

What Solidarity Means to Me…

Solidarity is the relationship each of us has with other members of the organization we are part of, in this case the Union. We support one another, we are accountable to one another and we work toward a common goal. The members of the group can depend on one another, each are accountable for themselves and to the group. We understand there is a benefit to being part of the group and that the benefit grows as we interact with and support the members of the group, because we are the group.
