In August, our chapter president and Sogetsu instructor Leslie Rosinski invited members to create arrangements using roadside material!

Members were encouraged to ‘take to the streets’ and find floral materials along the roadside.

Leslie demonstrated an upright Moribana style using two main stems in a low sided (moribana) container.

Ikebana was represented at the fourth annual Bon festival at Cranbrook by the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Michigan.

Historically, both the Detroit II Chapter as well as members of Ann Arbor II have displayed arrangements in a tent near the Obon drumming and dancing.

This year our Michigan Ikenobo Chapter had an exhibition in Cranbrook House. Visiting Ikenobo professor Emiko Suzuki gave a demonstration and offered her pieces to the exhibition as well!

Ikebana is the Japanese art of floral arranging. Ikebana International is introducing Americans to the art and promoting friendship through flowers.

For our July workshop Liz Larwa demonstrated an Ichyio arrangement in the Flowing Form. She used branches that have a natural graceful curve or bend to allow the feeling of flowing beyond the container.

Members enjoyed practicing this Ichyio form!
