Detroit showing up for Detroit! 🛒✊🏾💙

Today, a good chunk of our E. Warren Development Corp crew headed over to the Detroit People’s Food Co-op to fill some carts and show some love!

Why? Because community-owned businesses matter!

The Detroit People’s Food Co-op is more than a grocery store. It’s about community ownership, supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs, creating jobs, and keeping more of our dollars right here in Detroit.

In fact, research has shown that food co-ops can generate nearly 18% more local economic activity than conventional grocery stores. That’s the power of shopping with purpose!

At EWDC, we’re building a similar ecosystem through our farmers market, commercial kitchen, and future Public Market. We know firsthand that building community wealth isn’t easy, and that’s exactly why we have to support one another.

We can’t just celebrate these places when they open. We’ve got to show up to keep them open!

So next time you need groceries, skip the usual suspects and give the co-op some love. You don’t have to be a member to shop!

Because when Detroiters invest in Detroiters, everybody wins.

Community ownership. Collective power. That’s the VIBE! 🧡💙

From live music and local vendors to family fun, community partners, great food, and so many familiar faces, E. Warren was full of energy from start to finish.

And a huge thank you to our partners, sponsors, vendors, performers, volunteers, staff, and everyone who played a part in bringing E. Warrenfest to life.

Take a look back at some of our favorite moments from the day. 📸
