Happy Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day! We celebrated this morning by biking with 34 other riders - including Councilman - on the Moore Bike Bus.

What's a Bike Bus? It's a group of kids and parents who bike to school together. Some riders meet up at the starting point, and others wait along the route and join when the bike bus reaches them. The Moore Bike Bus rides on Wednesday mornings and kicks off with a refresher on safe riding practices, which the adults reinforce along the ride.

Thousands of Central Iowans don't have cars, and thousands more choose to make trips around the metro without a car simply because they prefer to do so. Kudos to Windsor Heights for bringing attention to this by recognizing October 1-8 as the .

The City of Windsor Heights is proud to proclaim October 3–10, 2026, as Week Without Driving! We encourage residents, community organizations, businesses, and public officials to experience a week without driving and learn more about the challenges faced by those who cannot drive.

Together, we can work toward safer, more accessible, affordable, and sustainable transportation options for everyone.

For Christmas a few years back, Kelsey Lange gifted her mom, Mindy Moore, a bicycle tattoo inspired by her own colorful mandala tattoo - a special way to recognize their mother-daughter bond. When Mindy decided to sponsor a Street Collective Bike Share bike, her daughter did the artwork, weaving that same colorful mandala throughout the design. This beautiful bike - known as "Purple Flowers" in our system - is now available for checkout as a Bike Share bike.

Mindy says, "To me, the bike symbolizes a lot of things - freedom, independence, equitable mobility, environmental sustainability, and, of course, fun!"

Ever wonder what a Vegas wedding on a tandem bicycle might look like? Last night we found out at Not Just Jokes, an improv comedy show. They drew inspiration from the Street Collective and brought to life the squishiness of riding in the rain with bad gear. And who could forget the bike rodeo queen with her Southern drawl, her daddy, and her momma who's resting in peace... because she's asleep in Texas?

Hmm... we have a feeling the conditions might be a little different out there this year. 😁🌧️

It's the LAST race of the weekend - one lap, both hands on your handlebar the entire time!

Do you know the Bill Riley Bridge, that bridge in Water Works Park that is extremely jarring to bike over? The City of Des Moines wants to fix that! The bridge was built in 1932, and last year's bridge inspection found that the bridge's substructure, deck, and railing were scored as being in "poor" condition. This bridge is one of several infrastructure projects vying for public funding, and public comments are open through September 18 on each project.
