Capital City Pride

Capital City Pride Fearlessly Creating Community The annual Pride Festival celebration, held the second weekend in June every summer.

Our mission is to promote acceptance, tolerance, and understanding of the gay, le***an, bisexual, and transgender community through education, programming, and visibility. We accomplish this by promoting a healthy community image and awareness, creating a positive public education and discourse, and developing an effective community collaboration in which our collective resources can be utilized.

Pride weekend would not be possible if it weren't for the support of the Des Moines metro area community and dedicated volunteers who give their time and energy in making sure that each year’s event is something for everyone to enjoy! Disclaimer

Morgana Moon & the Damned Saints are bringing blues, soul, funk, and raw storytelling to PrideFest. 🔥
The Des Moines group blends gritty textures, powerful vocals, and lived experience into a sound that refuses to stay in one lane. Made up of local musicians with their own “beat the odds” stories, the band uses music as both reclamation and release.

Meet our Sunday headliner, Lady Revel 🎸
The Midwestern indie rock band has built a reputation for sharp pop hooks, emotional honesty, and songs that stick with you long after the set ends. Their newest album, Slow Burn, leans into vulnerability, angst, and the messy reality of being human, while still delivering the kind of indie rock energy you want to scream-sing with your friends.

Pride Month starts here.

For more than five years, the Pride Walk has marked the official opening of Pride Month in Des Moines - a reminder that our community is still here, still visible, and still raising our voices together.

Join us as we march to the Capitol in response to ongoing legislative attacks on LGBTQ+ Iowans. Bring your flags, your signs, your friends, or simply yourself.

📍 Meet at Historic City Hall
⏰ 5:15 PM meetup | 5:30 PM walk begins

Afterward, we’ll head to The Garden rooftop patio to celebrate q***r joy together.
