A HUGE congratulations to Penelope Wong of Yuan Wonton for winning the 2026 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mountain (CO, ID, MT, UT, WY) 🥇

This is Penelope’s first James Beard Foundation win, following three consecutive years as a finalist in the “Best Chef: Mountain” category, and the first time an Asian woman representing Colorado has won.

Including Penelope, five other Colorado hospitality professionals were finalists at this year’s awards. To Johnny Curiel (Fonda Fina Group), Ryan Fletter (Barolo Grill), McLain Hedges and Mary Allison Wright (Yacht Club), and Josh Niernberg (Bin 707 Foodbar), we are so proud of everyone who was recognized for exceptional talent and achievement in our food and beverage industry 💕
