There isn’t a “Real Black Santa,” because that title was never meant to belong to one person or one organization. Black Santa has never been singular. Black Santa is collective.

Black Santa is the police department that steps up when they see a toy deficit and refuse to let a child go without. Black Santa is the teacher who pours everything they have into their students until the final bell of the semester. Black Santa is the barber who volunteers their hands, the donor who gives quietly, the volunteer who stays late, and the parent who shows up even when resources are thin. Black Santa exists wherever love, dignity, and responsibility show up for our children.

We are all Black Santa.

To everyone who continues to make this dream real year after year, thank you. Thank you to the volunteers who gave their time and labor, to the partners who opened their doors, to the donors who trusted us, and to the families who allowed us into their holiday. This work happens because a village decides, again and again, that our children deserve joy, stability, and to be seen. Every toy packed and every smile protected is proof that this community shows up when it matters most.

We are still learning, still growing, and still adapting to community feedback. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, there will be moments when we do not meet a perfect standard of customer service, but we will always lead with care, accountability, transparency, and a commitment to improve.

This year, many organizations were forced to compete for the same limited resources, often relying on systems like Toys for Tots that were never designed to fully serve Black communities. We made a different choice. We declared our independence. And because of this community, the Grinch did not steal Christmas from Denver’s kids. Next year, we invite organizations to collaborate with us for one unified Eastside celebration to maximize collective impact.

We are in the final days of the 2025 Black Santa Project season.

We have made the decision to approve all families who completed our official Google Form registration in November (please note: RSVP’ing on our website does not constitute registration). To fully serve the 500 approved families, we must secure an additional 890 toys across the remaining age groups.

Because ActBlue only disburses funds on Mondays, we are asking supporters to donate via Venmo or CashApp so we have immediate access to funds to continue purchasing toys in real time.

These closing days are critical. We cannot finish this work without you.

The Whos didn’t wait for the Grinch’s heart to grow—and neither will we.

Because of delays in how funds are released, we need immediate donations to continue purchasing toys daily for the 2025 Black Santa Project Celebration.

No child should wake up on Christmas morning without joy — not in this city, not on our watch.

Right now, The Black Santa Project is 1,520 toys short of serving every pre-registered family. These are kids ages 2–12 who are counting on us, and the deadline to meet the need is December 18th.

We’ve never turned a child away before. And with your help, we won’t start now.

Donate a toy. Send this to someone who can give. Help us close the gap and protect the magic of the holidays for Denver's children.

** IMPORTANT NOTE: Reaching this number will only allow us to serve everyone who pre-registered, not those who haven't. If we reach this number, we will have about 6K toys, but if the community wants to go into overdrive, we will need another 4K to meet our annual 10K toy goal, and that would allow us to serve those who have been reaching out who did not get to register before Nov. 19th. **

Black Santa Project Update:

Our Board of Directors and Executive Director are reviewing all registrations today following a full audit of the toys currently on hand. You can expect to receive an update on your status within the next 24–72 hours.

If you did not register through our official Google Form, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate additional families this year due to limited toy inventory and the high volume of Round One registrations. Additionally, RSVP'ing for the event on our website does NOT count as registration; only the official Google Form sign-ups will be honored.

At this time, we will not be offering walk-up appointments on the day of the event.

Thank you for your understanding and for being part of the Black Santa Project village.
