After more than a year of navigating setbacks, uncertainty and the challenges of cross-cultural coordination, Katega village officially has access to clean water! 💧
Working through a failed drilling location and months of finishing an authorized purification certification, reserve tanks, infrastructure and legal processes, this monumental project is finally complete. 🥲 We are so incredibly grateful for the financial donors that have made this possible and the prayerful support of so many more.
For the first time since the village’s last functioning well broke in 1991, the people of Katega have direct access to clean water within their own community at the Katega Community Center we’ve been building alongside our partners at Pumziko Africa Ministries since 2019. Before this, families (often delegated to the children) were walking miles to collect water from contaminated sources linked to deadly disease. Now, children are playing in clean running water in the center of their own village. 🥹🎉🙌🏽
Water helps sustain survival, but we also care deeply about long-term thriving. One of our next major focuses is helping more children gain access to education through our school sponsorship program. Would love for you to learn more about what we are doing in Uganda ➡️ check out the link in our bio!
We’ll be sharing a much more detailed newsletter soon with the full story and what more is to come 🫶🏽
