As a parent... Do you know dr0wning is the leading cause of death for tiny humams 1- 4 years old? And the 2nd leading cause of accidental death for kids up to 14? ... and has been for decades.

So what should parents know?... Ages 1- 4 drownings spike as kids learn to crawl and walk...but cannot yet swim.

- Swim lessons can start as early as 6 months & teaches them how to flip and float should they ever fall in.
- Swim lessons decrease dr0wning chances by near 80%
- Many dr0wnings occur during non swim time!

Think nap time & they wake up without you hearing then wander into the back yard. Family bbqs when everyone believes everyone else is watching the kids & they sneak away to a body of water. Etc

Who is most impacted?
While anyone can drown ... data shows little boys statistically drown more often due to engaging in higher risk activities around the water.

POC also have higher stats around dr0wnings. Black & Indigenous American communities are about 8 to 10 times more likely to experience a drowning in America.

What can parents do?...
GET LITTLES IN SWIM LESSONS.

HAVE PROACTIVE CONVOS ABOUT EXPECTATIONS WHEN AROUND OR NEAR WATER.

TEACH THE NEXT GENERATION TO RESPECT THE WATER & ITS POWER/STRENGTH. ESPECIALLY IN VOLUME.

ASSIGN WATER WATCHERS AT GATHERING LOCATED AROUND THE WATER. TAKE SHIFTS ROTATING WHO IS WATCHING THE SWIMMERS.

This pod really brings the thunder! They are volunteer based, talent individuals & they are also a stellar pod. Using thier skills in safety, outreach and more to edutain communities on water & swim safety! From lifeguards & veterans to nurses & media professionals...our pod consists of some of the most mermazing beings 💫

What a dream...helping & edutaining so many on water/swim safety! We were not sure what to expect when Swim Brayv was getting off the ground 10 years ago. BUT TODAY... The very kids and parents we were edutaining back then, remember our founders story. They remember the Swim B.R.A.Y.V pledge and they come talk to us about how meeting the pod impacted thier thoughts and habits when in/around water.

And thats the mermaid magic we spread...consistent swim/water safety knowledge & ongoing outreach to our communities. THEY DESERVE TO KNOW THE TRUTH. 🧜🏻🧜🏿‍♂️🧜‍♀️ ❤️
