Rotary Club of Del Mar

Rotary Club of Del Mar Welcome to the Rotary Club of Del Mar - where good deeds multiply! Our Rotarians share their talents both internationally and locally.

Our projects are many and diverse and include such efforts as the final push to eradicate polio from the world and helping to organize beach clean-ups in Del Mar. We have dentists and doctors that visit Baja and perform miracles for children and that work nights and weekends at St. Leo's Community Health Care Clinic in Solana Beach. The boardwalk and fencing in the western portion of the San Diegu

ito River Park was built by Rotarians. The beautiful village clock at 15th Street in Del Mar was established by us too. We work tirelessly in December at the Holiday Basket family support program and put on a Holiday Party for members of the La Colonia branch of the San Dieguito Boys and Girls Club. For local youth, we sponsor Interact clubs for students at Torrey Pines, Cathedral Catholic and Sunset High Schools, teaching them leadership, ethics, community service, and world peace and understanding. We sponsor a Boy Scout troop and youth sports teams. We mentor a Rotaract club for students at USD and helped start new Rotary Clubs for young adults in La Jolla and Kingston, Jamaica. Our weekly meetings at Jimmy O's always feature lunch and interesting speakers. We have a Chili and Quackers event on the beach in Del Mar in May, our fantastic Sunset Soirée in the fall at the Del Mar Plaza and regular fellowship events in addition to our service events. Simply put, if you are the type of person that enjoys being involved in your community, working and socializing with many talented individuals, then this is the club to join! We are always looking for motivated individuals who are willing to share a little bit of their time and talent to better serve our community. If you're interested in having fun and meeting great like-minded people then please join us!

Every year we're so fortunate to have such talented young musicians play for us as part of the District 5340 music competition. This year we welcomed competitors (l to r) Adam Shaheen (viola), Ruiya Xia (piano), Madison Le (violin), Conrad Markstein (piano) and Yoyo Wu (marimba). Members Janice Hall Kurth, Ina von Ber, Lowell Gaspar, and Jim Davies had the tough task of selecting a winner. We're delighted that Yoyo Wu will represent us at the district semifinals, with Conrad Markstein as the runner up. Thank you to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Del Mar for hosting the competition in their parish hall.

The inaugural Gallop4Rotary was a fantastic success! Thank you to all our members and Rotarians from across District 5340 who joined us on the Stretch Run at the Del Mar Racetrack for a day of fun and fellowship with Del Mar Racing. This event was the brainchild of member Linda Saville, and she, along with her hard-working committee that included Mary Savoy, Susan Maronde, Dawn Cox and Michael Clark, made it a reality. Come join us next year!
