Yesterday, we ran out of the meal we had originally planned to serve.

But our neighbors were still coming.

So we warmed up what we had left, pulled together leftovers, and kept serving.

Because hunger doesn’t stop when the planned meal runs out, and neither do we.

Every day, we do everything we can to make sure the people who walk through our doors leave with a meal and the reminder that their community cares.

Nourish our neighbors today and build a more food-secure community tomorrow.

Better yet, every dollar swiped will also earn a matched amount of vouchers good to use on produce at our market or Decatur Central Park Farmers' Market. (They can be used at Richland and Champaign/ Urbana’s markets as well.)

Let’s TACO ’bout our community and their needs!

In Decatur, 19.4% of residents live in poverty. Behind that number are our neighbors, families, children, and seniors who deserve reliable access to nutritious food.

We believe no one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from. Because when our neighbors are nourished, our entire community is stronger.

That’s why we’re here: to nourish our neighbors today and build a more food-secure community tomorrow.

Today was a busy one at Good Samaritan Inn. We served more than 200 meals to our neighbors, and volunteers from First Christian Church were right there with us helping prep and pack grab bags before serving today’s meal.

Our mission is to nourish our neighbors today and build a more food-secure community tomorrow, and days like today are a reminder that we cannot do that work alone.

We are so grateful to First Christian Church for showing up, jumping in, and helping us serve our community.

Come visit our partner program Mercy Market this Saturday, August 15th at Preston Jackson Park (337 N Water St, Decatur IL) from 8am-12pm!

We have locally grown produce, baked goods of all kinds, drinks, crafts, jewelry, and more available this weekend.

If you receive LINK benefits, you can swipe your card at the Mercy Gardens/ Information table and receive tokens to spend on meats, eggs, breads, and produce, while also receiving a matching amount of vouchers that can be spent exclusively on produce. These tokens and vouchers can also be used at the Decatur Central Park Farmers Market, as well as the Richland, Champaign, and Urbana markets.

We will be set up rain or shine, so bring an umbrella and come see us tomorrow!

Our LINK booth will be open to accept LINK benefits, with matching produce vouchers available to help make fresh, healthy food more affordable. We also accept WIC Farmers Market checks, which can be used here and at many food vendors at the Decatur Central Park Farmers' Market, just two blocks away.
