💙 The Impact Behind Every Dollar💙

Every dollar invested through United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois has the power to create meaningful, lasting change right here in our community. Through a rigorous, volunteer-led investment process, United Way identifies and supports programs that are effective, efficient and making a measurable difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Because when our community invests together, every dollar should have a purpose—and every investment should create impact.

For families, having a safe, reliable place for their children to go can make a tremendous difference.

Through its Preschool, After School Care, and Camp Sokkia programs, the Decatur Family YMCA provides children with opportunities to learn, grow, make friends, and build confidence. At the same time, parents can go to work knowing their children are safe, cared for, and developing important skills.

That kind of stability matters. Reliable childcare can help a parent keep a job, take on additional hours, or pursue a new opportunity. For children, it means having caring adults around them and a place where they feel supported and encouraged.

Shyler Kraus, Director of Development at the Decatur Family YMCA, explains, "The impact goes far beyond simply providing childcare. It’s easy to look at childcare as simply a service that families need while they’re at work,” said Kraus. “But what we’re really providing is an opportunity for children to grow. We’re helping them build confidence, learn how to work with others, discover new interests and know that there are adults in their corner cheering them on.”

United Way’s support helps make these opportunities possible for local families—strengthening families today and helping build a stronger, more resilient community for the future.

That is The Impact Behind Every Dollar. 💙

At United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois, lasting change starts with people who are willing to step up, get involved, and make a difference. 💙
Meet Board Member Suzi Rotz, a longtime advocate, volunteer, and passionate champion for our community.
Suzi believes that real change happens when people come together, take action, and commit to making their community better one step at a time. Through UWDMI's work with ALICE (aka working families) and ALICE at Work upskilling and so many other local initiatives, they are truly changing lives.
“I've seen firsthand that the United Way of Decatur & Mid Illinois is truly impacting change in our community, & are the way change is made. When we each do our part and come together with a shared purpose, we can create meaningful, lasting change in our community.”
Thank you, Suzi, for your leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. We’re grateful to have you helping lead the way. 💙

🎉 We had a BLAST with Forvis Mazars US as they kicked off their United Way campaign! 💙

And what better way to celebrate than by Giving Like Dolly! ✨📚

The Forvis Mazars team jumped right in with some fun group participation to celebrate Give Like Dolly Day — and they didn’t stop there! They made an additional $250 donation to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, helping put more free, high-quality books into the hands of local children. 📚❤️

We are so grateful for their generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference in our community.🦋
