Two weeks ago, Spencer Kammel and Evan Kohlmeier graduated from West Salem High School. Now they're back, helping build the school's addition with Fowler and Hammer. Laborers' Local 140 Business Agent Pete Arentz had a great time catching up with them on the job site and wishing them success as they begin their careers in the trades!

CPR/AED Awareness Week is a reminder that emergencies can happen anywhere, including the jobsite.

Knowing CPR and how to use an AED can help save a coworker’s life before first responders arrive. Whether you work in construction, manufacturing, trucking, or the trades, being prepared matters.

Take a few hours to learn the basics. One skill could make all the difference for your crew, your family, or your community.
*Learn CPR
*Know where the AED is located
*Look out for each other on and off the job

Did you know that our Apprenticeship and Training Center regularly offers First Aid/CPR/AED classes?

Meet Michael Henning II.

He joined Laborers Local 464 in 2024 and has been working in renewable energy construction ever since, helping build solar projects with Blattner. In a short time, Michael has worked his way into a lead position and is now in charge of logistics for material on the project through hard work, dedication, and pride in what he does every day.

Renewable energy projects have not only provided Michael with a career and opportunities for advancement, but also stability, purpose, and a path forward for his family. He demonstrates daily how building clean energy infrastructure can positively impact both the environment and working families across Wisconsin.

Michael loves LIUNA and is so thankful that this is now his life. Joining LIUNA changed everything for him and he now has hope for the future for him and his family.

Making progress one pour at a time!

Recently, Highway Landscapers were pouring the slope paving on Highway 41 by Wrightstown Exit--JJ in LIUNA Local 330's area.

Projects like this take planning, precision, and a crew committed to quality from start to finish.

In this line of work, strength is something we take pride in. But strength isn’t just physical. It’s speaking up when something’s not right. It’s checking in on a fellow member. It’s asking for help when you need it.

We partner with Spring Health to offer mental health support to members and their families. To get started, visit liunawisconsin.springhealth.com to complete a short online assessment, or call 1-855-629-0554.

May is National Blood Pressure Education Month.

Did you know? Roughly 25% of construction workers have high blood pressure, and many don't know it. High blood pressure is a "silent killer" that can cause dizziness or fatigue on the job site—serious hazards when you’re working with heavy machinery or at heights.

Take control of your numbers:
*Know your numbers (get checked at a pharmacy or clinic).
*Reduce salt in your packed lunch.
*Drink more water, less caffeine/energy drinks.

Keep your heart as strong as the buildings you build.
