It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Tim Huth, one of the founding board members of the Embassy of Hope Foundation.

Since the foundation’s inception in 1999, Tim was a steadfast supporter and active participant in its mission to serve the community. Known for his unwavering dedication, Tim was always there when others needed help — a true pillar of compassion and service throughout Volusia County. He generously served on many local boards and touched countless lives through his leadership and kindness.

Tim’s involvement with the Embassy of Hope Foundation began with a meaningful connection. Founder Vince Carter personally selected the original board members based on close relationships and shared values. Tim, who served as principal of Mainland High School from 1991 to 1995, was not only a mentor and educator but also one of Vince’s earliest and most enthusiastic supporters.

The Advisory Board of the Embassy of Hope Foundation extends our heartfelt condolences to the Huth family and all who knew and loved him. His legacy of service, generosity, and community commitment will never be forgotten.

Kids Tag Art is an innovative program that blends arts education and fundraising by having 5th graders design their own specialty license plates. The project teaches students about Florida’s specialty plates and encourages them to express causes they care about while raising money for their school’s art program through plate sales.

For the second year in a row, the Embassy of Hope Foundation is proud to sponsor this impactful program. Congratulations to Adilyn Mercado, a 5th grader at Champion Elementary School, whose design was selected as the Foundation’s 2025 winner! In addition, Champion Elementary’s art class will receive $2,000 to support art education and supplies.

It’s beginning to look like Christmas, but we’ve got to eat! Saturday , December 21, 2024, was the scene, once again, of Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Vince Carter and his Embassy of Hope Foundation in partnership with Publix Supermarkets presenting “Believing in Christmas” annual food basket giveaway. EOH Board members and volunteers gathered outside the Vince Carter Athletic Center at Mainland High School to distribute plentiful food baskets containing a gift card to purchase a turkey or meat of choice, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, celery, stuffing mix, canned vegetables, eggs, margarine, apple pie and more to groups feeding families needing assistance this Christmas season. This is the 25th year that Carter and his advisory board have made it possible for families to have a nice meal at Christmas. As Vince said, “This is a small piece of what we can do for our community. Being able to put a good meal on the table where family and friends can gather is important.” This year, some of the recipients included the Children’s Home Society, Halifax Health Hospice, Family Renew, and families involved in some of our local churches.

Vince and the Embassy of Hope Advisory Board wish everyone blessings for this holiday season and good health for the New Year.
