The Jaycees of the Quad Cities had a busy weekend! While our ID event was happening in Donahue, a few of our members headed to Des Moines for JCI Iowa / Iowa Jaycees's Leadership Summit.

One of the best parts of being a Jaycee is there are always opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and become a stronger leader. Members who attended the summit said they are excited to take what they learned and put it into action, especially as our chapter continues to grow and make an impact in the Quad Cities!

Thank you JCI Iowa for bringing everyone together and hosting a great event.

Yesterday was our last individual event of the year. Several current (and potential! 😉) members toured Cinnamon Ridge Farms to learn about their robotic dairy operation and how technology is used to care for the cows. 🐄 After the tour, we got to make our own butter and try some of Cinnamon Ridge’s homemade cheeses. 🧀 We had a great time!

Last week, members Drew, Charmaine, Amanda, and Nikki hopped on a plane and headed to Virginia Beach for the JCI USA Annual Meeting. 🌊✈️

Our local chapter was joined by other JCI Iowa / Iowa Jaycees chapters, as well as chapters across the country. Iowa showed up strong with nine members representing our state and eight voting delegates.

Charmaine said one of her favorite parts was volunteering on the credentials committee, where she helped verify candidates, presidents, and delegates participating in the election process. She said "it was such a cool experience getting to see what happens behind the scenes before everyone enters the voting room."

The days were jam packed with trainings, meetings, and other large group functions. At the end of the week, JCI USA wrapped up with dinner and the Ten Outstanding Young Americans celebration.

To summarize her experience, Charmaine states, "this experience gave me a much deeper look at JCI USA on the national level; from governance and elections, to leadership development, networking, and celebrating the impact young leaders are making. I came home with new knowledge, new connections, and plenty of ideas to bring back to Iowa!"
