Has your Hazardous Weather Training expired? It is mandatory for all direct contact leaders which includes Cubmasters, Den leaders, Scoutmasters, Venturing Advisors, Sea Scouting Skippers, and their respective assistants. The training is valid for 24 months, upon which it needs to be retaken. It takes only about 30 minutes to complete. You can look it up on my.scouting.org. Has your Safeguarding Youth Training expired? SYT is good for one year, at which time you need to take the SYT refresher course. The good news is that it is only 20 minutes long. If your SYT is expired, technically you are no longer considered an active volunteer by National. If expired for less than 7 days, you may still take the 20-minute online refresher course. If expired for 7 days or more, the short refresher course may be locked out, and you would have to take the full 90-minute SYT course from the beginning. Are you wondering how to get trained? If you are a registered Scout leader and have not been trained please log in to my.scouting.org to take the training course for your position. Click on “My Training,” then on “Requirements,” and then find the plan for your position. The plan includes modules that are designed to allow you to complete them at your own pace. Barry Witten, the Inali District Training Chair, can answer any questions that you might have such as what your registered position is, how to create your username and password, and which courses or modules you need to take or may have already taken. He can also assist you with training awards. If you plan to take Basic Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) or Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) next April 9-10 at Camp Loud Thunder you will need to complete online training first. Remember that all new leaders need to complete Safeguarding Youth Training (formerly called Youth Protection Training). A great night at Lincoln Elementary School in Macomb! ⚜️

We're set up at Parent-Teacher Conferences tonight, meeting with families and sharing all the exciting opportunities waiting for their children in Cub Scouts!

From camping and fishing to Pinewood Derby races, outdoor adventures, and making new friends, Cub Scouting is a great way for kids to have fun, learn new skills, and build confidence.

A big thank-you to Lincoln Elementary School for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to connect with local families!

Adventure is calling, Macomb! Come join the fun!

Had a great day with the Central Warren Fire Protection District in Kirkwood, Illinois, as they launch Explorer Post 734! 🚒

This new Exploring program gives young people the opportunity to learn more about the fire service, gain hands-on experience, build leadership skills, and work alongside members of the Central Warren Fire Protection District.

Congratulations to Earle Greene, who was presented with the Cubmaster’s Key in recognition of his outstanding service to Pack 317 in Galesburg!

Earle has served as Cubmaster of Pack 317 for the past three years, helping young Scouts grow, learn new skills, experience the outdoors, and build friendships along the way. The Cubmaster’s Key recognizes leaders who demonstrate excellence and dedication, continue to strengthen their training, work with the council to improve the Scouting program, and consistently go the extra mile to help youth succeed.

As Earle’s children get older, he is beginning a new chapter in Scouting as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 316 in Galesburg.

And there is plenty to be excited about: Pack 317 has five Arrow of Light Scouts this year, helping build a strong future for both the pack and the troop.

Thank you, Earle, for everything you have given to Cub Scouting. We appreciate your leadership and dedication, and we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll continue to make with Troop 316!

A successful Scout roundup in Galesburg tonight with Pack 317!

We were excited to see several local families come out to learn more about Cub Scouts and how Scouting can help kids get outdoors, try new adventures, learn new skills, make friends, and have a whole lot of fun along the way.

A big thank-you to our new Pack 317 Cubmaster, Drew Garrett, for helping welcome families and continuing to build a strong Cub Scout program in Galesburg!

We’re looking forward to seeing these new families get started on their Scouting adventure.
