The Pittsylvania County Public Safety Memorial Committee recently formed a partnership with The Foundation. As part of this partnership, The Foundation will receive and account for fundraising contributions to benefit a Pittsylvania County Public Safety Memorial, which will be built in Chatham.

The Halifax County-South Boston Public Libraries is looking for local citizens to interview for a living history project. Visit their page for more information.

The library seeks three to five local citizens to interview in October and November of this year for a video history project that seeks to record experiences of people living and working in Halifax County, Virginia. Particularly the experiences of veterans. This is for a graduate school project, with expectations to continue after initial interviews have been conducted. Interviewees will be given questions ahead of time, must be willing to sign a consent form, and be willing to appear on camera. Interviews will be privately conducted at the Halifax Public Library in the local history room. Videos will be edited and added to the library’s YouTube page and private server for preservation.

Anyone interested in volunteering may pick up a packet of information at either the South Boston Public Library in downtown South Boston, or the Halifax Public Library in downtown Halifax, and leave their contact information.

Everyone has a story to tell- and when those stories are told and recorded, we get to keep a vital piece of our history for future generations.

The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research is offering a fun and creative service learning camp in November. Visit their page to learn more.

Do you have a middle-schooler who wants to give back to the community? Or, do you have a middle schooler who just needs a good Saturday activity?

We've got it!

During this Pottery Service Learning Day Camp on November 14, students will design and create ceramic bowls for the Martinsville-Henry County Lions Club Empty Bowls Event, supporting a meaningful community cause. They will also create a special ceramic keepsake to take home.

The maximum enrollment is 15, and registration closes on November 5.
