San Ramon Valley Rotary Club celebrated a memorable milestone, our club's 32nd Anniversary!

Our meeting was filled with inspiration and fellowship as we welcomed our student campers from Campy Royal and Camp Venture as guest speakers, who shared their impactful experiences and the difference Rotary has made in their lives. We were also delighted to INDUCT A NEW MEMBER to our club, host several guests, celebrate our club's anniversary, and recognize club President Sudha's birthday.

As we look ahead, we have a meaningful lineup of service projects and community initiatives planned over the next two months. If you're interested in making a difference, building connections, and learning more about Rotary, we invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.

🀄Rotarians Who Play Together, Stay Together! 🀄

This Summer, members of the San Ramon Valley Rotary Club have been gathering at Fat Maddie’s Blackhawk for mahjong socials filled with laughter and a little friendly competition.

Led by the club’s Executive Secretary, Linda Chin, family and friends have been learning Hong Kong style mahjong, developing new skills, and celebrating each other's successes along the way.

These gatherings are about much more than the game itself. They provide an opportunity to strengthen friendships, build community, and enjoy Rotary fellowship in a fun and welcoming environment.
Interested in learning mahjong or giving it a try?

Join us for our next Mahjong Social on Sunday, August 30, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, all are welcome!

Lessons and social play are completely free. We simply ask guests to support our generous host, Fat Maddie's Blackhawk, by ordering an entrée from their All Day Happy Hour Menu or regular menu.

Fat Maddie's has graciously provided us with a private room that is spacious, bright, and comfortable for learning and play. Weather permitting, we'll also have the option to enjoy mahjong on the patio in their beautiful outdoor setting.

Come for the mahjong, stay for the fellowship.

Mum, Jenga's well deserved break ❤️

Peter, the San Ramon Valley Rotary Club's Treasurer, and his wife Louise provided an update on the pups' development. The puppies are now over two weeks old and all weigh over 3 pounds. Their mum, Jenga, is doing great and remains very patient during feedings.

According to the Canine Companions' guide, we need to wait until the pups are at least 5 weeks old before we can handle them. To ensure they grow big and stay healthy, we will be admiring them from afar for now.

San Ramon Valley Rotary Club is pleased to share this community-based opportunity for students in the Class of 2027.

We are offering an intensive, one-day online workshop designed to help motivated high school seniors make meaningful progress on their college applications before Labor Day. The workshop will cover UC Personal Insight Questions, the UC Activities and Awards section, the Common Application essay, “Why College?” supplements, and the college résumé. Students will also examine successful essay samples from UCs, private universities, liberal arts colleges, and other popular institutions.

The workshop will be taught by a team of formally trained Independent Educational Consultants who belong to professional organizations such as IECA, HECA, NACAC, and WACAC. With approximately one mentor for every five students, participants will receive instruction, hands-on breakout-room guidance, practical templates, and resources they can continue using independently.

This is a limited, community-service workshop rather than a substitute for a student’s existing college counselor or IEC. Students may continue working with their current advisors after the program.

San Ramon Valley Rotary Club has a full August meeting calendar, and we are especially excited for our next meeting on August 12th.

We will have an extra special meeting featuring two high school student guest speakers who will share their experiences at Camp Royal and Camp Venture. We will also be celebrating our club's 32nd anniversary and inducting a new club member.

We are starting to planning our community service projects, partnerships with other community organizations, donation programs, international projects, and fundraisers. We invite you to be our guest at a dinner meeting to learn more about us and how you can get involved in your community.

Another litter of Canine Companions service dogs have started their incredible journey. Five boys and two girls are healthy and doing well, as is their Mom. San Ramon Valley Rotary Club member Peter Pay's wife Louise cares for Canine Companions breeder Jenga who delivered her second litter successfully on July 23rd. With the love and dedication of a small army of volunteers, starting with a breeder caretaker such as Louise, the pups will grow into service dogs who enhance the lives of people with disabilities. Canine Companions provides highly trained service dogs nationwide at no charge to the recipient.
