We are accepting applications for the Travis Bogard Artist in Residence Fellowships at Tao House, The Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site, Danville, CA. Deadline for applications is Nov. 1, 2026 (for 2027 residencies.)

The Artist in Residence Program at the beautiful and serene provides a working retreat for developing or established playwrights, scholars, artists, or critics of the performing arts. A valuable resource for Tao House Fellows is the availability of the library and its holdings in the American theatre.

There's more than one ghost haunting the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site! Check out our "Ghosts of Tao House" virtual recordings... O'Neill may have moved from Tao House in 1944, but did his characters leave with him? https://eugeneoneill.org/productions/ghostsoftaohouse/

Park rangers from Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site were once again on a covert mission to Boston to capture and relocate the ghost of Eugene O’Neill. It is widely reported that O’Neill haunts Kilachand Hall at Boston University, which was formerly the Sheraton Apartment House where he died in room 401. As always, the relocation effort was foiled when the team was discovered by campus security.

What an incredible week spent in New Ross for (The Eugene O’Neill International Festival of Theatre). All performances were superb for this truly international festival, with the Irish ☘️ ‘speaker of the house’ and two international ambassadors in the audience! To quote a patron: “Laughed and loved the way EONF staged O’Neill’s only comedy ‘Ah, Wilderness!’ in New Ross. Brilliant cast who could act and sing the additional radio jingles. This was charming and hilarious and a great closer to a wonderful festival.”

Our traveling production of “Ah, Wilderness!” was a smashing success with an engaged Irish audience who thoroughly enjoying the experience. Director was recognized with a special piece of local art for her outstanding production as well.

What a fabulous way to close out this special festival!

The Eugene O'Neill International Festival of Theatre is off to a great start with the opening ceremony and first performance! Guests included Danville Town Council members, Eugene O’Neill Foundation Board members, Wexford County dignitaries, descendants of O’Neill, and Sean Reidy and his team in New Ross, who make it all happen. It should be an incredible weekend of theatre and the arts with our friends across the pond, and all this is thanks to the Daville/New Ross Friendship City partnership!

Leading up to the 2026 Eugene O’Neill International Festival of Theatre in New Ross, Ireland, some of our board members attended “A Moon for the Misbegotten” at the Druid Theatre in Dublin and visited Ye Olde Hurdy Gurdy Museum of Vintage Radio in Howth, tying in nicely with our recent productions in Danville, CA!

The International Festival kicks off today with many international performances, including our production of O’Neill’s “Ah, Wilderness!” on Sunday!

Welcome back, Artist in Residence ! Bill is returning to Tao House to continue work on his memoir which he began in his 2021 residency. He is an accomplished mime who developed the Physical Theatre Lab which offers a five-week intensive on a variety of physical pedagogies and techniques.
