Safe and clean drinking water for more families in Davao Oriental!

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD FO XI), in partnership with Clean Water International Philippines (CWIP), distributed ceramic water filters to 334 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Baganga and Cateel from May 13–15, 2026.

This initiative aims to promote better health and sanitation by ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water for vulnerable families in Davao Oriental, particularly in communities classified under Levels 1 and 2 of the Safe Drinking Water Indicator of the 4Ps.

Through collaborative efforts, we continue to build healthier, safer, and more resilient communities for Filipino families.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD ROXI) met with local officials to discuss the implementation of the safe water program in the barangays through the provision of water filters.

The initiative aims to ensure clean and safe drinking water for residents, especially in communities with limited access to clean water supply.

Last week we had the privilege of welcoming Jason and Nikki Wynn from the travel storytelling YouTube channel Gone With the Wynns to Mindanao, Philippines.

Jason and Nikki are known for sharing meaningful stories from around the world, stories that highlight people, culture, sustainability, and the everyday ways communities are making a difference. Their work has inspired many to see the world with greater compassion, curiosity, and hope.

During their visit, we spent time together at Mt. Apo Elementary School, where they saw firsthand how a village biosand filter is helping provide clean, safe water for students and staff. They also met a beneficiary of a ceramic water filter and saw how access to safe water is changing daily life for families in the community.

A visit to our ceramic water filter factory allowed them to walk through the process of how each filter is carefully crafted and made with care, and to see how local production is helping bring sustainable clean-water solutions to communities across the Philippines.

One of the most meaningful parts of the visit was sharing the stories behind our work: the families, the children, and the communities whose lives are being impacted through clean, safe water. We were also encouraged to share the vision ahead through our new social enterprise, ACQUIPURE, where "Care Flows Here" as we work to scale these efforts from helping thousands of families today to reaching millions more with safe drinking water in the years to come. Clean water is more than a project; it means healthier children, stronger communities, and hope for the future.

Thank you, Jason and Nikki, for taking the time to connect with the communities, listen to their stories, and share in the heart behind this mission in Mindanao. Moments like these remind us that real change begins with people who care, and together we believe many more families will experience the hope and dignity that safe water brings.
