Solving Trash Runoff Once & For All
Free Talk!
Feat. MOORE INSTITUTE for Plastic Pollution Research
Long Beach Public Works collects tons of trash pouring into Long Beach from the LA and San Gabriel rivers each year! Volunteers supplement thateffort-last year they collected 1,300 pounds from the beach and around the pier on a single day!
Win Cowger, of Long Beach's own Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research (founded by the legendary Capt. Charlie Moore, discoverer of the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch", the massive marine debris gyre) will present on the following topic:
"Litter is a wicked problem that often first enters the environment on roadways.
California spends a billion dollars annually on this problem, with most of it focused on downstream cleanup in areas affected by litter. I will present another way to address the problem by conducting a study to identify new opportunities for upstream litter prevention."
