Word In The Hood

Word In The Hood Word In The Hood was created as an avenue for reaching at risk youth. Bringing Truth to the Youth and Bringing Good to the Hood

Word In The Hood was created to reach out to at risk youth. Our goal is to get the truth to the youth about the dangers of drugs and gangs. We have a real world approach based on facts and experience. No child should suffer the effects of gangs and drugs without having the facts you can't get anywhere but from experience. I have that experience to share with our youth and the alternative to save l

ives. Word In The Hood was founded by Leonardo Lechuga, an ex gang member who grew up on the streets of Aurora, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Having joined gangs at the age of 12 he has seen the worst a person could see about gangs and drugs. By the age of 18 he was so deep into the gang life that he was risking his life and freedom daily and witnessing those who had lost their lives or freedom to the gangs or drugs. When he finally grew up he learned of another way. He learned that he had been lied to for years about what it meant to be in a gang. He learned that the gang life was not what it was portrayed to be. He learned more than anything, there was a way out. There was still a chance to succeed in life. He was released from prison in 2006 and has since co-authored a book on martial arts and self defense. He has lead prison ministries for his local church and has reached out to youth and spoken out against gang violence and drugs. He has been invited to schools and youth centers to speak to the kids and tell his story. He is currently writing a book about his life in hopes of it reaching many more children and adults a like and give them hope. Join us in the fight to combat gangs and drugs that are robbing our youth of the right to grow up and succeed in life!

Are you blessed or do you think life is a struggle. How you perceive that is going to make a big difference.

Your suffering doesn't come from the work.

Your suffering comes from your attitude about the work.

“I have to work.”

“I have to train.”

“I have to handle this.”

No.

You get to.

You're healthy...

You're alive...

You're capable...
..and you've been gifted the opportunity to show up and build a great life for yourself.

Quit acting like that's a burden.

It's a massive privilege.

Most people don’t hate their life.

They hate the bu****it stories they tell themselves about it.

Focus on what you “have to do” and you’ll resent everything.

Focus on what you “get to do” and everything changes.

Audit your internal dialogue.

Refusal to do so will ruin your life.

Your words always matter. How you think matters.

You're playing a 24-hour game.

The first words you say to yourself when your eyes pop open decide how you play it.

If you say, "This day's gonna suck."

It will.

If you say, "I'm struggling."

You will.

You choose your identity every morning.

Most people pick victim without even noticing.

Stop telling yourself, "It's going to be tough."

Start telling yourself, "I'm the baddest mo********er alive."

Say it.

Mean it.

Act like it.

Everything you build starts with that first mental dialogue.

Win the first minute...
..and the rest of the day follows.

Don't react to the day.

You kick the s**t out of it.

Your greatest pain won't come from failure.

It won't come from losing.

It won't come from falling short after giving everything you have.

That kind of pain heals.

That kind of pain teaches.

That kind of pain builds you.

The pain that never goes away?

Knowing you could've been better.

Knowing you had the chance.

Knowing you had the talent.

Knowing you had the shot.
..and you fu***ng wasted it.

You chose comfort.

You chose distraction.

You chose "tomorrow."

By the time you realize it...

It's too late.

You can come back from failure.

Wasted potential is forever.
