We’re proud to announce that nearly $2.7 million in grants has been awarded to 97 nonprofits through The Dallas Foundation’s 2026 Summer Grant Cycle.

Across Greater Dallas, these investments are supporting organizations working to strengthen family economic stability, expand healthcare access, improve parks and recreational spaces, and advance mental and emotional health. From helping families access food, housing, and education to expanding healthcare and creating welcoming places to gather, these grants support organizations responding to important needs across our community.

Many of these grants are made possible through permanent funds established by donors to create an ongoing source of support for the causes and communities they care about. By establishing a fund at The Dallas Foundation, donors can help address community needs today while creating philanthropic resources that can support Greater Dallas for generations to come.

We’re grateful to the fundholders who make these investments possible and to the nonprofit organizations putting them into action to strengthen Greater Dallas.

We’re honored to be featured in the Council on Foundations’ Generosity Builds campaign, which highlights how charitable foundations help strengthen communities across the country.

Community foundations bring together local knowledge, generous people, and nonprofit partners to address the needs of the places they call home. At The Dallas Foundation, that means helping fundholders put their generosity into action, connecting partners around shared goals, and investing in solutions that meet immediate needs while creating lasting change.

Our investment in maternal and infant health is one example. Through $2 million over four years to Child Poverty Action Lab and Parkland Health Foundation, we’re supporting expanded access to care, postpartum support, and regional collaboration to improve outcomes for moms and babies across Dallas County.

This work reflects the role community foundations play every day: understanding local challenges, supporting the organizations closest to them, and helping our communities build a stronger future together.

Rising GENerosity members and their families recently came together for a day of service with Team IMPACT, creating a fun and meaningful opportunity to give back together.

Through games, activities, and time spent with the Team IMPACT community, we learned more about the organization’s work connecting children facing serious illness and disability with athletic teams.

Opportunities like this allow our members to experience the power of community firsthand while introducing the next generation of philanthropists to organizations making a difference across Dallas.

Last week, we joined fellow funders and community partners for Bachman Lake Together’s Together for Ten: Investor Gathering, celebrating a decade of investment, partnership, and progress in Bachman Lake.

For 10 years, Bachman Lake Together has worked alongside children, families, and community partners to strengthen the neighborhood. Its work reflects why The Dallas Foundation makes place-based philanthropy a strategic focus: lasting change grows from sustained investment, strong local partnerships, and the priorities of the people who call a neighborhood home.

The gathering offered an opportunity to reflect on that progress and explore what comes next. A special thank-you to our own Vickie Allen and our Board Member Ben Leal for helping bring this conversation together, and to Bachman Lake Together for convening the funders and partners who continue to invest in this community.

We look forward to deepening these partnerships and building on a decade of progress for Bachman Lake’s children and families.

Meaningful change takes people willing to speak up, stand alongside others, and turn conviction into action. Our Board Chair, Elizabeth Carlock Phillips, brings that commitment to her advocacy for survivors and her leadership in our community.

We were proud to celebrate Elizabeth as New Friends New Life honored her with the 2026 ProtectHER Award, recognizing her advocacy and leadership in advancing Trey’s Law, which helps protect survivors from being silenced through nondisclosure agreements.

At The Dallas Foundation, we believe lasting community change happens when people bring their voices, experiences, and expertise to the issues they care deeply about. We’re grateful for the leadership Elizabeth brings to our Foundation and to our community.

Should fundholders put more charitable resources to work today or invest them to support the community for generations to come?

For some fundholders, spending down can accelerate progress when a need is urgent or a goal is time-sensitive. For others, investing for perpetuity can provide ongoing support while preserving resources for future needs. And in some cases, a combination of both may make sense.

In our latest Ask an Expert, Jessica Shepard Watts, Ph.D., Chief Partnerships Officer at The Dallas Foundation, explores the trade-offs between these approaches and the questions fundholders should consider, including timing, charitable intent, family legacy, and the needs of a changing community.

At The Dallas Foundation, we help fundholders look beyond the structure of a fund to create a philanthropic strategy that reflects their values, goals, and vision for the future.

What an incredible North Texas Giving Day at the Water Cooler at Pegasus Park!

Thanks to your generosity, eighteen Water Cooler organizations reached the $5,000 mark and were entered into our drawing for two $15,000 prizes. Congratulations to Grant Halliburton Foundation and Texas Trees Foundation on receiving this year’s grants!

We were grateful to spend the day celebrating the nonprofits that call the Water Cooler home, from morning pastries and conversations to an afternoon social where we announced this year’s winners.

Most of all, we’re grateful for everyone who made the day possible and for those who showed up to support the organizations doing important work across our community. We’re proud to be part of a community that is helping build a healthier, happier, and more resilient Dallas.
