Pride month is a time to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community as we recognize the connection between acceptance, belonging and mental health. Feeling safe to be yourself and being supported by others makes a meaningful impact in emotional well-being.

This month, take time to learn from others’ experiences, lead with empathy and uplift others. Look to create a culture where people are accepted for who they are, leaving an impact beyond the month of June.

“I’m involved with the Grant Halliburton Foundation because I truly believe they are doing work that few others are willing or able to do. Mental health is a grueling, ongoing battle that touches everyone in some capacity, and being part of an organization that provides critical resources and support means contributing to something that is both deeply needed and profoundly impactful.”

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, the conversation does not end here. Mental health is something we carry with us every day, and so is the importance of checking in, reaching out, and supporting one another.

Let this month be a reminder to continue showing up with care, compassion, and openness long after May ends.

On Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. It is also a reminder that grief and mental health are deeply connected, and that many individuals and families carry invisible emotional weight on days like this and beyond.

As we reflect and remember, we also encourage compassion for ourselves and others, and space for healing in whatever form that takes.

Myth: You can always tell when someone is struggling with their mental health.

Fact: Some people do a good job of hiding what they are going through, and mental health challenges are not always visible from the outside.

This is why checking in, listening without assumptions, and having honest conversations matters.
