We are welcoming 10 chinchillas into our care today 😱
These guys were rescued from a large-scale welfare case where they had been living in unacceptable conditions. (We will spare you the pictures from the facility they were rescued from.)

Thanks to the efforts of the team providing healthcare, transport and bonding for this huge rescue. We had originally signed up to take 5-7 individuals but when they arrived, each one had a buddy! so we have 5 bonded same-sex pairs. Apparently the bonding had gone so well that almost every chinchi from this pull ended up with a bestie. After such long journey, these guys definitely need some decompression time but they are sure a beautiful bunch.

We need bedding!
Due to our abundance of burrowing mammals like hamsters, p-dogs and baby rats, we are running out of paper bedding!

We need:
- paper bedding such as full cheeks, care fresh, etc. Any color.
-aspen/hemp shavings

We do not need:
- pine shavings
-shredded office paper (it isnt very absorbent and we already have plenty)

How to get it to us:

Penelope's babies are just about 1 week old and doing great! We are constantly fueling mama with snacks and she has been working so hard keeping these 16 babies fed- rats only have 12 ni***es so she is working overtime!

Only about 4 weeks until these guys will be weaning and ready for homes- interested adopters can fill out an application on our website.

New to pet rats? Education is a big part of what we do! Email us to schedule a visit to see some rats and learn about their care.

Happy adoption day to Taco the guinea pig! We had an adopter come looking for a single male piggy to live "side by side" with their male. They saw Taco's charming handsome mug and knew he was the one!
side-by-side is a great setup for territorial males: that way they can have companionship with their neighbor pig without actually sharing space or potentially hurting each other.
We will miss Taco but know he will be well loved at home!

Welcoming Cookies n Cream, aka CC to Lost Woods!

This piggy was pulled from our local animal control. she was part of an accidental litter, and due to the owner not separating the males at 3 weeks, she also had a litter herself 😢

CC needed a gal pal and we had one for her, Twix! These two were so happy to meet and have been living together for several days. They are now looking for a home together. Twix is about a year old and CC is about 5 months.

Come adopt some guinea pigs! there are more at animal control we would like to transfer over here, but we can only take in as many animals as we adopt out.

Tony the rabbit just got back from his neuter vacation at Animal House of Chicago, he did a great job! He'll be adoptable in a couple weeks when he recovers from surgery.
Dr Cynthia estimates he is around 1 year old!

We are welcoming mama Penelope the rat and her 16ish babies to Lost Woods today!
Penelope was a pet store rat, and like many pet store rats she was carrying a whole belly full of surprises. Her owner reached out to us for help- luckily they love Penelope and want to keep her, so she is just having a little "maternity leave" here at Lost Woods, after which she will go back to her owners and ratty sisters.
However, her babies will all need homes in about 5 weeks, so let all of the rat people know! Penelope is the sweetest, friendliest girl so we would expect her babies to have similar temperament.
