Sign up today for our last Adult Mental Health First Aid training of 2026!

Want to feel more confident recognizing and responding to someone experiencing a mental health crisis? Join NAMI McHenry County for Adult Mental Health First Aid, an 8-hour course designed to help you identify signs of mental health challenges and learn how to provide support.

The training includes a 2-hour online pre-course followed by a 6-hour in-person training.

Learn how to have lifesaving conversations through CALM Conversations.

Talking with someone who may be at risk of su***de can feel difficult, but learning how to start these conversations can make a difference.

Join NAMI McHenry County for a free, one-hour virtual training focused on how to talk with individuals at risk of su***de about access to lethal means. No prior su***de prevention training is required.

An Update to Our Family Support Groups 💚

Our Family Support Group schedule is changing! Moving forward, we’ll be meeting on Wednesdays from 6:00–7:30 PM. The Monday evening option will no longer be available.

We know how important it is to find support, understanding, and connection when navigating a loved one’s mental health journey. Our Family Support Group offers a welcoming space to share experiences, learn from others, and find encouragement among people who understand.

We look forward to continuing to support you and your family. We hope to see you on Wednesday evenings!

New to our support group? All first-time attendees must complete an assessment at the Living Room before attending a support group. Please arrive no later than 5:15 PM if completing an assessment on the same day as support group. The Living Room is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Our NAMI McHenry County team is proud to be part of the 2026 NAMI Illinois Statewide Conference! 💚

It’s an exciting opportunity to connect with fellow advocates, learn from others across the state, and share ideas for strengthening mental health support in our communities.

A special highlight was seeing Abbey and Elba present on NAMI McHenry County’s Foglia Family Living Room and Drop-In Center! They were excited to share how these programs are expanding access to free, peer-led support and creating welcoming spaces for individuals in our community.

We’re grateful to be part of a statewide network working to bridge gaps in care, build connections, and make mental health support more accessible to all.

Join us for Trauma and Resilience in Youth, a training designed for individuals who work with young people. This presentation will explore the wide-ranging impacts of trauma, introduce the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study, and examine how trauma affects brain development and executive functioning skills.

Whether you work in education, social services, or another youth-serving role, this training offers valuable insight into understanding trauma and supporting young people.

Want a say in how mental health resources are shaped in your community? NAMI McHenry County is helping recruit individuals with lived experience to join the Regional Advisory Committee for the Community Network Anchor Grant, a new regional initiative connecting communities across the Region 7 (Westchester) Lake, McHenry, Kane, DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Will, Grundy, and Kankakee counties with the mental health and healthcare resources they need.
