A HUGE, HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO THE HAYDEN FOUNDATION! 🐾💛

Sometimes, a gift comes along that reminds us that we are not alone in this journey. Today, we want to express our deepest gratitude to The Hayden Foundation along with George and Cindy for this incredibly generous donation to Pet Refuge!

The Hayden Foundation was established by Donald and Elaine Hayden, whose commitment to service, education, and animal welfare continues through the foundation’s charitable work. Their dedication to supporting organizations that care for animals in need is something truly special, and we are so grateful to be among those whose work they have chosen to support. ❤️

The Hayden Foundation’s commitment to animal welfare aligns so beautifully with what we strive to do every single day at Pet Refuge: rescue cats in need, provide compassionate care, support their recovery, and help them find loving furever homes.
And goodness knows, we have plenty of little lives depending on us!

Our shelter cats, our kittens, our foster babies, and especially our medically fragile cats all depend on us to provide food, safe shelter, veterinary care, medications, and so much more. Behind every rescued cat is a story, and behind every happy ending is a tremendous amount of love, hard work, and financial commitment.

Veterinary expenses continue to rise, and caring for cats with special medical needs can be especially costly. We work tirelessly to give every cat who comes our way the care and chance at a better life they deserve. Generous support like this helps us continue that mission and makes a meaningful difference for the cats and kittens who need us most.

This donation is so much more than a check. It represents compassion, hope, and a belief in the lives we are working so hard to save. It helps us continue caring for the cats already in our shelter, supporting those in loving foster homes, and providing medical attention to those who need a little extra help.

To The Hayden Foundation, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU. Thank you for recognizing the importance of animal welfare. Thank you for investing in the well-being of Rhode Island’s animals. And thank you for helping organizations like ours continue to do this incredibly important work.

🐾 Yesterday, The Hayden Foundation had the pleasure of visiting Pet Refuge (North Kingstown–Exeter Animal Protection League) to present a $26,400 grant!

Pet Refuge does incredible work providing care, shelter, and second chances to animals in need. We're grateful for the opportunity to support their continued efforts and the dedicated staff and volunteers who make it all possible.

It was wonderful to spend time with their team and see the compassion and commitment behind everything they do.

We recently had the opportunity to visit the Providence Public Library and see firsthand the incredible educational opportunities being offered to students throughout our community!

The Hayden Foundation is proud to have awarded a $25,000 grant to support the library’s STEM education initiatives, helping expand access to hands-on learning experiences in technology, engineering, coding, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving.

Through programs such as Teen Squads, PPL Makers, Data for Good, and MindSpark STEAM Club, students are gaining valuable skills, exploring new interests, and preparing for future academic and career opportunities.

With approximately 500 students expected to benefit from these programs, we’re excited to see the continued impact of this partnership.

It’s always rewarding to see the lasting impact of a grant! 🎓
In 2024, The Hayden Foundation helped bring innovative Anatomage technology to Scituate High School's biomedical science program, including Anatomage technology, 12 accompanying tablets, and classroom improvements.

Two years later, we had the opportunity to return and see how these resources are being used by students today!

During our visit, we spoke with Rachel Roburg, Lead Biomedical Teacher at Scituate High School, about how the program has developed and the opportunities this technology continues to provide. We also got to see students interacting with the Anatomage technology firsthand, bringing their classroom lessons to life through hands-on learning.

Seeing the continued impact of these investments is exactly why we love what we do. We’re grateful to the educators at Scituate High School for their dedication to creating meaningful learning experiences for their students.

Seeing the impact firsthand 🧬
The Hayden Foundation recently returned to Scituate High School to visit its Biomedical Career and Technical Education program and see the Anatomage Table in action.

Our 2024 grant helped support the addition of this interactive technology, giving students the opportunity to explore human anatomy in a detailed, hands-on way. Watching them work together, ask questions, and confidently navigate the table was incredibly rewarding.

Thank you to the teachers, staff, and students who welcomed us into the classroom and shared their experiences. This is only the beginning! More photos, videos, and stories from our visit will be coming soon 🎓

Some of the most meaningful work in animal welfare happens before an animal ever enters a shelter.

Spay and neuter initiatives help prevent unplanned litters, reduce pressure on already-full shelters, and allow organizations to focus more of their resources on the animals already in their care.

It's one of the many ways Rhode Island's animal welfare organizations are working toward lasting change—and why we're proud to support the work they do. 💙
