Lamp Post Creative Learning Center aims to provide a facility and/or campus to house plays, learning groups, classes, and clubs to meet the needs of our community for ages children to adults who desire to explore and learn. This place will be a place to build a vibrant community through active learning, integrity, hard work, dedication, and faith. It will be a space where a variety of people can c

ome and share their knowledge, craft, and expertise to others. This will be a place for Creators to have a space and resources to practice their craft and Creative Teachers to teach others. Lamp Post Creative Learning Center is a Section 501(c)(3) charitable corporation and is recognized by the State of Colorado as a charitable corporation, donations to which are tax-deductible.

Lots of events coming up at Lamp Post this summer!

Kids STEM Camp - The Durango Powerhouse and Lamp Post are combining two camps into one big adventure for kids 1st through 8th grade on June 15-19 at Lamp Post Creative Learning Center. First through Fourth Graders will learn engineering skills as they build carnival games out of cardboard, and Fourth through Eighth Graders will learn all about rocketry! Camp runs Monday through Thursday, 9am-3pm and Friday, 9am-1pm. Sign up at https://powsci.org/programs/satellite-camps/

250 Sewing Retreat - The Dolores Mountain Quilters will be presenting their Sewing Retreat on June 25-27 at Lamp Post Creative Learning Center. Light breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided. Block and technique demonstrations, games, door prizes, and goodie bags will be provided for everyone in attendance. Contact Corinna Gray at (970)739-0427 to register.

Lamp Post Kids Summer Theatre Camp - Lamp Post is excited to present their second annual theatre camp for kids on July 6-18. The morning camp runs 9am-12pm, and the afternoon camp runs 1-4pm, and each camp will perform a one act musical. Our two shows this year are "101 Dalmatians" and "The Jungle Book." The cost is $250, but discounts are provided for multi-kid households, and scholarships are also available. Space is filling up fast, so register soon at lamppostclc.org

Lamp Post is hosting the Durango Powerhouse for two one-week-long STEM summer camps for kids in Cortez. June 8-12 is open to 1st-4th graders and involves engineering a cardboard carnival came, and June 15-19 is open to 4th-8th graders and focuses on rocketry. Lamp Post is excited to collaborate with Amanda Sturman, Marianne Marchesano, and the University of Colorado to present a new event that highlights the stories of four locals through videography, original artwork, creative writing, and performance. This event is not to be missed. Featured storytellers include Jim Lynch, Jim Hannah, Ardy Ptolemy, and Teri Helm; artists include Jenny Treanor, Sarah Drummond, Corinne Sandner, and Lily Sandner; writers include Angela Clark, Elizabeth Dickey, and Shawn McAllister; with videography by Daniel Sandner; and performances by Amanda Sturman and students from CU Boulder.

Thank you so much to Montezuma Hearing Clinic, Scott and Lucia Story, for providing us with this brand new hearing assist system for Lamp Post. If you need hearing assistance, just ask at the box office, and we’ll supply you with a receiver and a pair of headphones for you to use, included in the ticket price.
