•For the next few weeks, we will be giving notes on the pieces coming up:
✨ 3 Featured Works ✨
🎶 The Star-Spangled Banner
Born from Francis Scott Key’s 1814 poem after the Battle of Fort McHenry, this iconic anthem became a lasting symbol of American resilience and pride. It was officially adopted as the U.S. national anthem in 1931.
🎶 Liberty Fanfare
Composed by John Williams in 1986 for the centennial of the Statue of Liberty, this bold and triumphant work celebrates freedom, hope, and the enduring American spirit.
🎶 Quiet City
Aaron Copland’s beautifully reflective work for trumpet, English horn, and strings captures stillness, longing, and quiet beauty. Adapted from music for Irwin Shaw’s 1939 play, it remains one of his most moving compositions.
