Very nicely done article by Brian Ragle in the Herald Citizen about our first Really Really Free Market. Thank you so much Brian and everyone not mentioned who contributed to the success of this event. Follow us on FB and IG for updates on what we're doing and the next RRFM. We are looking for a neutral, free place to have one in Sept. Suggestion? Please comment below

There was no cash box, no price tags and no sign-up sheet. Tables of clothing, books, hygiene supplies, food and household goods sat out in the open on a Sunday

πŸŽ™οΈ New episode of Legal Aid in Action is out today.

We sat down with Heather Herrmann from Metro Nashville's Office of Family Safety to talk about domestic violence β€” what support looks like, what survivors deserve, and how legal help can make a difference.

This conversation matters. Whether you're someone navigating a difficult situation, a friend trying to help, or a community member who wants to understand the resources available in Nashville β€” this episode is for you.

If you’re looking for a community that welcomes you wholeheartedly and accepts you exactly as you are, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cookeville may be the place for you. We are an eclectic group of caring individuals from many beliefs and backgrounds, gathering to share our lives and support one another. Whether you’re seeking a like minded community or simply curious about who we are, we invite you to join us on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. (Please see our website for service updates, as once in a while, we will meet at Cane Creek Park.)

Our Covenant

New members sign this covenant when they choose to become members of the congregation.

β€œWe, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cookeville family, establish this covenant, rooted in our shared values, to ensure those values are upheld. These are the promises we make to each other regarding how we are to be when we are together.

I value Community; therefore, I promise to:
β€’ use criticism rarely, constructively, and kindly
β€’ maintain teamwork and cooperation
β€’ be engaged with others in a positive way
β€’ be respectful and empathetic of each other even in disagreement
β€’ support the church with my time as I am able
β€’ take responsibility for advancing the goals of the community
β€’ share the uplifting message of our Congregation
β€’ provide a spiritually nurturing environment
β€’ focus on the intent of our actions and less on rigid rule enforcement
β€’ not tolerate destructive or dangerous behavior

I value Diversity; therefore, I promise to:
β€’ be welcoming and inclusive
β€’ be open to the ideas of others
β€’ treat everyone with compassion, tolerance and respect
β€’ be sensitive and caring toward others
β€’ be respectful and empathetic of the differing beliefs of others
β€’ support individuality
β€’ let others do things differently

I value a Hopeful Outlook; therefore, I promise to:
β€’ share joy with others
β€’ maintain an uplifting atmosphere with fun, love and laughter
β€’ represent the Congregation in a positive light
β€’ address sorrows with sensitivity and caring

I value Honesty, Compassion, Respect, and Courage; therefore, I promise to:
β€’ listen carefully and thoughtfully to others
β€’ speak directly, truthfully and respectfully to others when in disagreement
β€’ delay judgment of situations and people that annoy me
β€’ revise this covenant when it no longer supports our shared values
β€’ call each other back to covenant when we stray from our promises

These values we carry in our hearts.”
