🔔 Family Sign Up for Help for the Holidays is officially OPEN!

Eligible families include:
💛 Reunified families whose children have returned home from foster care within the last 10 years.
💛 Kinship families raising a relative's children, official or unofficial (fictive kin included).
💛 Young adults who aged out of foster care within the last 10 years, including gifts for their own children.

💛 A note to our foster families: We deeply value and support you! Many foster agencies and children's services offer their own holiday programs, so Help for the Holidays is intentionally focused on reunified, kinship, and former foster youth families this season to make sure resources reach those with the greatest need. We will host a Christmas Shop for our traditional foster/adoptive families later in December. Please keep an eye out for that information. Thank you for understanding, and for everything you do for the children in your care.

ONE MORE WEEK until family registration opens for Help for the Holidays!

Eligible families include:
💛 Reunified families whose children have returned home from foster care within the last 10 years.
💛 Kinship families raising a relative's children, official or unofficial (fictive kin included).
💛 Young adults who aged out of foster care within the last 10 years, including gifts for their own children.

📣 Calling all local businesses, organizations, and community groups! Help for the Holidays is Alicia's Closet's largest program of the year, providing brand-new, wish-list gifts to over 1,000 children and young adults across Central Ohio.

Sponsorships start at $500 and directly fund gifts for a set number of children. You can also help by hosting a Cheer Box or Angel Tree, donating wrapping supplies, or lending your team as Holiday Helper volunteers. Partnering with us is also a meaningful way to engage your employees in giving back together.

Do you enjoy working with children and want to make a meaningful difference for foster families in our community? 💗

We’re looking for some more volunteers to help supervise classrooms during our Family Respite programming! These volunteers play an important role in creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment for children while their caregivers have an opportunity to take a much-needed break. Background checks and training are provided by Alicia's Closet.

Did you know nearly 300,000 children in Ohio alone are currently living in kinship care? Research shows children do better when placed with someone familiar to them; kinship care helps kids maintain their identity, keep important connections, and cope with difficult transitions. Unlike foster parents, many kinship caregivers are suddenly and unexpectedly thrust into raising children with little to no financial support, often struggling to cover child care, food, and other essentials. Time and again, kinship families tell us they would have no Christmas for their kids without Help for the Holidays. This program exists because we believe every family deserves dignity and support, no matter how they came together.

Santa’s looking for a Workshop! 🎄🎁

Each year, our Help for the Holidays program grows more and more. We are looking for a space to host us this year, to allow us to serve what we know will be a record-breaking number of children affected by foster and kinship care.

We are seeking a special workshop that:
- Is large enough to hold thousands of gifts (4,000 square feet or more)
- We can use from mid-November through mid-December
- Is located in Columbus or it’s suburbs

We hosted our September Respite this past weekend! After a small break from Respite programming, we had the perfect return! Thank you to our amazing volunteers who gave their time and energy to spend time with the kids we serve. Thank you to Hilliard Church of the Nazarene for hosting us. And a massive thank you to our friends at Gahanna GLOW for their support, which allowed us to bring this program back to our families!

Help for the Holidays provides brand-new gifts to children in kinship care, reunified families, and young adults who've aged out of foster care, specially shopped from wish lists they submit themselves. Preparing to serve our families takes real support, and your donation today helps us purchase program supplies, hard-to-find gifts, and last-minute needs before the season gets busy.

💚 Free Store Current Needs 💚
Alicia’s Closet has a free store for kinship, foster, adoptive, and reunified families, as well as former foster youth. To meet the needs within this community, we need your help! Our inventory changes quickly, so each month we post an updated list of our most needed items.

Thank you for:
💚 “Donating with Dignity" by ensuring that items are new/like new or very gently used and free of stains, holes, pilling, and fading.

💚 Washing/cleaning all clothing and shoes prior to donating.

💚 Separating clothing by gender and size and labeling all bags to make sorting quicker for our volunteers.

Donation drop off is on TUESDAYS from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and SATURDAYS from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at 6369 Dublin Industrial Lane 43016.

If you would like to inquire about donating items not on our current needs list or want to make arrangements to drop off at another available time, please email [email protected]
